Use SAM Unlock Activation Ticket to Unlock iPhone 4S, 4, 3GS

Loktar_Sun was able to unlock any jailbroken iPhone on any baseband using Sam Bingner’s SAM (Subscriber Artificial Module) package. Apple has fixed the SAM activation method to unlock iPhones. However, if you were proactive enough to unlock your iPhone using SAM and have backup your SAM activation ticket, you can unlock your iPhone on any future iOS update without any issue.

If you’re one of those lucky iPhone users who have unlocked and backup their SAM unlock Activation tickets, you can easily restore those SAM tickets and unlock iPhone if you’ve to restore or update your iPhone for whatever reason.

If you’ve unlocked your iPhone on any unofficial SIM using SAM unlock, backup your SAM activation ticket now, if you have not already done so.

IMPORTANT

  • In order to unlock your iPhone using this method you must have your backed up Lockdown folder after unlocking with SAM.
  • Your iPhone MUST be jailbroken in order to unlock iPhone using backed up SAM activation ticket. iOS 5.1.1 Jailbreak guides are linked at the bottom.
  • After jailbreak, your iPhone MUST be activated either using official carrier SIM card or using SAM.

If you meet the above mentioned criteria, follow the steps below on how to use SAM unlock activation ticket to unlock your iPhone on any iOS…

We assume that you have your backed up Lockdown folder available on hand. If it’s a .zip file, extract it to get the Lockdown folder. Insert your unofficial SIM that you had unlocked using SAM activation.

Step 1

First thing you need is a file system explorer program. iExplorer is a free iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch filde explorer program. Download and install iExplorer:

Download [1] iExplorer for Windows or Mac

Step 3

Connect your iPhone to your computer;
If you have SAM installed, it’s time to diasable SAM (Settings > SAM > Tap on Enabled toggle to disable it)

Step 4

Open iExplorer;
In iExplorer, navigate to the following directory: /var/root/Library
Right click on the Lockdown folder and choose Delete;

Step 5

Now click and drag the Lockdown folder (that you backed up after unlocking with SAM) into the /var/root/Library directory.

Note: If your Lockdown activation token is currently in a .zip format you will need to extract it and rename the folder to Lockdown.

Now if you navigate to: /var/root/Library/Lockdown directory, you should see the following files there:

activation_records
escrow_records
pair_recoards
device_private_key.pem
device_public_key.pem

Step 6

Now Power Off your iPhone and when it reboots, you should notice the signal bars. That’s it! you’ve successfully restored the SAM activation tickey and have unlocked your iPhone.
