Chideo Provides Fans Insider Access to KISS 2014 Summer Tour through VIP Sweepstakes, Exclusive Video Content

LOS ANGELES â€" JULY 31, 2014 â€" Chideo, the first interactive charity broadcast network, has partnered with rock legends KISS for a summer-long promotion that not only connects fans with their favorite band in new and exciting ways, but is also generating support for American military veterans. [1]
Fans of KISS who register on Chideo’s website or download the Chideo App (available for iOS and Android) and then donate to the August Warrior Project will gain access to exclusive sweepstakes, behind-the-scenes video content, and other opportunities to get up close and personal with Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley and the other band members. The promotion, which kicked off earlier this month, ends August 31 in Houston on the final stop of the KISS 2014 Summer Tour. [2]

“Chideo is an amazing new model for musicians like us to support the causes we care about,” Simmons said. “The platform makes it fun and easy and fun for fans to donate and make a difference. Working together, I know we can accomplish great things for men and women who have served our country so honorably.”

Highlights of the Chideo and KISS charity partnership include:

·         KISS 40th Anniversary Tour VIP Experience sweepstakes â€" Fans can enter to win two tickets to the band’s last stop in Houston on August 31, a backstage tour, photo opp with the band, hotel accommodations, airfare and transportation. (Deadline to enter is 11:59 p.m. on August 13, 2014.)

·         An interactive in-concert experience at each stop on the tour, which gives KISS a chance to share why they support Augusta Warrior Project and concert goers an opportunity to immediately download and donate from their mobile devices.

·         KISSTERIA Ultimate Vinyl Road Case sweepstakes â€" Fans can enter for a chance to win a limited-edition collection of 34 KISS LPs valued at $1,750. The set includes 19 studio albums, five “Alive” releases and their four solo albums pressed onto audiophile 180g vinyl for the first time since as far back as 1985. Also included are six exclusive vinyl albums not available via any other offering.

·         Exclusive video documenting and celebrating the band’s recent induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, including a ride in the car with Gene Simmons and his family as they make their way to the ceremony, a behind-the-scenes visit with Paul Stanley at a book signing in New Jersey, and more never-before-seen footage produced on the road during the tour. Apple officially welcomes Beats to the family

Apple Beats

It was the end of May when Apple announced they’d begun the process of acquiring Beats Electronics , the makers of Beats Music and the popular headphone lineup. Now, in early August, Apple is officially welcoming Beats into the family.

Following the announcement from Vivendi/Universal Music Group that Apple had successfully purchased 13% of its shares in Beats Electronics, Apple published a microsite that officially welcomed Beats into the Apple family. Citing a love for music, and an excitement in pairing up with another company that loves it just as much, Apple has expressed great interest in what’s to come.

“Today we are excited to officially welcome Beats Music and Beats Electronics to the Apple family. Music has always held a special place in our hearts, and we’re thrilled to join forces with a group of people who love it as much as we do. Beats cofounders Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre have created beautiful products that have helped millions of people deepen their connection to music. We’re delighted to be working with the team to elevate that experience even further.

And we can’t wait to hear what’s next.“

Moreover, Beats has included a message of their own on the Beats website, saying:

“Musicians rely on their instruments to give structure and form to their imagination. At the dawn of digital recording, the Macintosh computer was the instrument of choice. At the beginning of portable digital music, the iPod placed the library of the world’s music in your pocket. The iPhone became not only an instrument for music but also the center of your connected life. The iPad extended this capability with a user interface and apps that allowed you to compose a symphony on the subway. Starting today, we at Beats are fortunate to add our instrument to this legacy by joining Apple. The products we build together will allow us to reimagine sound once again and to continue this great tradition of bringing imagination to life.“

As part of the deal, all online sales of Beats products will be routed through Apple’s online store from here on out.

It was only a few days ago that we had heard reports of Apple transitioning some Beats employees over to Apple’s headquarters, while deciding to keep some in the Southern California offices. Others, though, would not make the transition.

Are you excited about the possibilities from this acquisition?

Black login screen on your Mac? Here's the fix!

Black login screen on your Mac? Here's the fix!

You restarted your Mac, and now you can't log in. The Apple boot screen appears and pinwheels for a few moments, then the screen goes black. You can still see a cursor, but you can't log in and get any further. Don't panic! We have the fix! Print these instructions out or save them to an iOS device and read them from there â€" I'll walk you through how to recover.

What's likely happened is that a system preference called a plist file has gotten corrupted or damaged somehow. The file is called com.apple.loginwindow.plist. In order to recover, you'll need to delete the file. There's a catch, though. This method requires you to have access to another Mac equipped with FireWire or Thunderbolt.

Using target disk mode to delete a file

  1. Turn your Mac off it's powered.
  2. Connect the Mac to another Mac using a FireWire or Thunderbolt cable.
  3. Turn your Mac on and immediately hold down the T key.
  4. The screen will show you Thunderbolt and FireWire icons instead of the customary interface.
  5. Your Mac's hard drive will mount on the desktop of the computer it's connected to. Double-click on the hard drive icon to open it.
  6. Double-click on the Library folder.
  7. Double-click on the Preferences folder.
  8. Click on the com.apple.loginwindow.plist file and drag it to the Trash.
  9. Empty the Trash.
  10. Unmount your Mac's hard drive by dragging it into the Trash.
  11. Power it down by pressing the power button.

When you turn your Mac on again, it will create a new loginwindow.plist file to create the old one, and you should be able to log in as normal.

Update!

This problem sometimes happens with OS X Mavericks 10.9.2. If you're running an out of date version of OS X, the best thing you can do to avoid having this happen again is to update your Mac to the most recent version of the operating system. So please, update.

Hopefully this fixes what's ailing your Mac. Let me know if you have any questions or run into an unexpected problem.

College Football Fans, We’re Taking You Where No Other Fans Have Ever Been – Seriously

On the evening of August 13, 2014, DudeYouCrazy.net readers will get to follow along (on Twitter [1] , and maybe on here if we can figure it all out) as I enter the brand new, not-opening-until-ten-days-later College Football Hall of Fame. Oh, and I’ll be shacking up there.  Seriously, I’m sleeping at the CFB HOF.

How did this happen?  Well, this wasn’t given.  Much like LeBron James’ Northeast Ohio, when Chick-fil-A and the College Football Hall of Fame are involved, nothing is given…everything is earned.

I won an essay contest.  I saw a promotion online, I typed the 133 words found below.  I won.  That’s what I do.

A few reasons why this is so great:

  1. The thesis of the essay is simple: College Football = America.  If you know me, you probably expect this type of thing.
  2. In the essay I proudly extol some of college football’s many virtues, like education.
  3. In the essay I use the term “multifaceted love.”
  4. Now I can will call myself an award-winning college football writer.

So when I enter the new Hall of Fame as one of the first 100 entrants, know that I, Andrew Hall, am the Hall of fame.  And follow on Twitter [2] as I give you a behind the scenes look of what sleeping in an un0pened museum is like.

It’s going to be just like this, but a lot more fun and with fewer lions.

And now, here’s what an award-winning essay looks like:

I love college football because it represents everything good and pure in the United States.  Unbridled competition is crossed with transcendent strategy and multiplied by an environment that encourages sportsmanship, education, passion and excellence.

The ties between fans and their rooting alliances run so deep that lines are blurred.  “They” becomes “We.”  “Team” becomes “Fans.”  There is no out of bounds, only a vast sea of loyalists extending upon the playing field both in the stadium and on couches around the land.

College football is the great American game thanks to its rich history, its colorful tradition and its adaptive future.

Nothing in this life can compare with 100,000 fans uniting in one unified but multifaceted love.  Love of sport.  Love of higher education. Love of victory. And love of loyalty…even in defeat.

That’s all I got/

Andrew
