On Tuesday, May 12, Google officially updated its News & Weather app to bring Apple Watch support, making it the first Watch app from the Mountain View-based company.
The update, which brings the version up to 1.7.426, was released today, and includes Apple Watch support as the main takeaway. With the new feature, the Watch serves as a small window into the text-filled content found within the app proper. Thereâs not a lot going on here, but for anyone that wants to keep up-to-date on certain things, and doesnât want to use any of the other news apps available, Googleâs version can fill in that blank.
Itâs a free app, and the download link below will take you to it if you donât already have it installed. While this may not be the one app from Google that people want on their wrist, it is a good sign, as TechCrunch points out, that Google is not ignoring the Apple Watch and that more updates from the company are more than likely on the horizon.
Google Maps on the Apple Watch, anyone?
