We recently told you about Appleâs upcoming sales push where the company would serve free iOS apps, iBooks and other types of digital iTunes content through the official Apple Store app. Having laid the groundwork by updating the free Apple Store [1]  iOS software a week ago, Apple has now made necessary changes to its backend, resulting in free iTunes content now appearing inside the app.
Appleâs first gift to its customers and would-be shoppers is the Color Zen game, otherwise a 99-cent download if accessed outside the shopping software. Itâs interesting the offer not only automatically pops up upon the user waltzing inside an Apple Store, but is also available if youâre actually hundreds of miles away from the nearest retail outlet, hereâs how⦠[2]
To access your free content without visiting an Apple Store, fire up the app, hit the Store tab at the bottom and select any U.S. or international Apple Store. As shown on the screenies top of post, I chose Appleâs flagship Fifth Avenue glass cube store.
Your free offer awaits you right on the store page.
Hitting the âDownload now for freeâ button puts up a warning saying youâll be taken to the App Store to finalize the download. Hit Continue to proceed.
The App Store automatically launches with the redeem code for the app already entered for you. Tap the Redeem button in the upper right, provide your iTunes credentials if necessary and the download will start right away.
These offers exclusive to Apple Store app users will change over time as the whole purpose of the initiative is to boost in-store iPhone sales by incentivizing users with free apps, electronic books and more iTunes content.
The company has also instructed its retail army to install the Apple Store app on newly purchased iOS devices because people are mostly unaware of its existence.
