When opening Rate My Cake for the first time, users only have the option to log in via Facebook or Twitter. It’s time to then make an account with an email and username, and of course users will have to agree to the Terms of Service. Users can then take their first picture and use one of five different filters to make their cakes look even more amazing or begin exploring the app via the toolbar at the bottom of the screen.

When pictures of cakes are taken, cake fans can add a description, recipe or categorize it for others to find easily. It’s also possible to share it to Facebook and Twitter before posting it. Of course, it’s not required to take a picture to enjoy the app. Tapping on the magnifying glass lets users browse the delicious cake photos where they can leave comments, favorite the ones they love and view uploaded recipes.

There are a couple other features located in the navigation bar. The coffee mug icon is where users can browse badges they earn for using the app as well as other news. Enthusiasts can also access their profile information and view their followers and photos of cake.

Rate My Cake is a neat app for fans of cake to show off their creations to the world, and the ability to interact with other cake aficionados is a major plus. Additionally, the interface is colorful and nicely laid out. The only room for improvement is to offer alternative ways to sign in as well as an iPad version for those who may prefer to view the photos on a larger screen.
