Orange launches new free calls and messaging app for iPhone — seenit.co.uk

A new app from Orange is offering iPhone users free “high quality” voice calls plus instant messaging and text transcription of voicemails.

Launched this week in 90 countries, Libon uses WiFi and 3G to allow users to communicate with friends and family who also sign up to the service. The app is compatible with iPhones on all networks meaning users do not need to change provider.

The app creates a timeline for each contact and displays in it details of all conversations, messages and voicemails between the two, while voicemails left by contacts can be transcribed by the service into text.

Users can create customised voicemail greetings for each contact or group of contacts, ensuring that friends, family and work colleagues hear a message that’s appropriate for the relationship.

A free version includes the free HD calls and text messaging between Libon users, visual voicemail with greetings customisation for up to 3 different contacts or groups of contacts, Text-to-speech functionality, voicemails transcription for messages and, iPhone and email notification of voicemails.

In addition to the above features, a premium paid-for version offers unlimited customised greetings, full-length transcription of all voicemail messages, unlimited storage and email copies of all voicemails.

Plus, users also get 60 minutes of international calling every month to landlines or mobile numbers in 31 countries.

The free iPhone app is available for download from the iTunes AppStore [1] with a version for Android expected to launch in early 2013.
