LineUp, an iOS App For New Phone Numbers, Offers VoIP and Texting

San Francisco, California â€" FathomWorks LLC is pleased to announce the release of a major update to its first iOS app, LineUp. LineUp lets users buy and use any number of regular or toll-free US phone numbers for calling, voicemail, and now texting as well. Most notably, users have the option of using an internet or data connection to make VoIP calls, meaning calls can be made from an iPod touch or iPad, or without using minutes from the user’s cellphone plan. Lines are must be renewed monthly but calls and texts roll over month-to-month until used.

LineUp is perfect for staying anonymous when posting to online forums, such as Craigslist, for online dating, for fending off recruiters (put a new number on your resume), and for running a new business from your iPhone. LineUp offers a privacy barrier that you can use however you want, and that you can instantly erase whenever you need. Plus, because LineUp offers a VoIP option, it can be used by anyone around the world who wants or needs a US-based phone number. Finally, LineUp lets you search by area code or pattern, meaning you can get whatever phone number you want, wherever you want.

Since launch, some users have used their line only once before getting rid of it, while others have already prepaid for the next year and use their lines multiple times daily. There are no contracts and you can get rid of the line whenever you want, or keep it as long as you need. If you do get rid of a line, your leftover minutes and texts stay on your account so you can use them with any other lines you have or may buy.

LineUp was first released at the end of July 2012, but without texting features. Almost immediately, LineUp was downloaded and enjoyed daily sales. Since the release of the texting features, downloads have doubled and continue to rise. Interestingly, the much maligned iOS 6 App Store update has actually benefited LineUp, and downloads continuing to rise despite those reported issues.

Since its release, LineUp has connected 1500 calls and, in just the last week, has processed over 440 texts for over 150 daily active users.
