Apps Gone Free notifies you of App Store sales and great free apps | McClatchy Tribune News Service

iOS: More apps go on sale or get discounted on a given day than anyone can really keep track of, but Apps Gone Free for the iPhone and iPad does a great job of keeping you up to date on which apps go on sale on what day and which apps go from paid to free - all right on your phone.

Apps Gone Free is itself a free app, available in the iTunes App Store, and localized in multiple languages and countries. It notifies you each day with a hand-picked selection of the best apps that have either been discounted or are now completely free. The app lists about 5 to 10 apps every day worth picking up, so think of it as a daily discount bundle for your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad. The app even includes a description of the app and why the folks behind Apps Gone Free think it's worth downloading.

The app also has a feature called "App Bump," where you and other users can vote for your favorite apps that you think should go free. The folks behind the app will take the nominations, contact the developer and if the app developer agrees to a promo, they'll notify you to take advantage of it. If you're looking for great free apps, this is better than visiting iTunes every day to see what's on sale.
