Personal Safety Apps for Moms

Home » Protecting Children » Personal Safety Apps Let Moms Track Kinds & Record Their Surroundings

Sure I do not want to think about my daughter’s getting into danger, be stalked or attacked by someone. God forbid, that would never happen to her. But, I tend to feel apprehensive about her and my heart skips beat whenever she delays coming back home. It becomes next to impossible to control my temper and vanquish my negative thoughts that creep up when she is out for a girls’ night out, for downtown shopping, or when she walks through the campus. At times, me and my daughter would pick up spats when we dispose off my piles of concerns and worries on her and she builds up emotional barrier against me â€" and we don’t do good but distance us from each other. The other day I shared about our tiffs with my friend, Kareina. Being a mother of 15-year old teen daughter, she perceived the root of the problems and showed me solutions that were magical.

My friend Kareina told me about these personal safety apps that serve as SOS messages in our phone. She blurted that with these apps loaded on her daughter’s mobile phone, she learnt how to take smart steps forward to ensure safety instead of taking no steps at all except worrying, weeping my heart, and warnings to keep her grounded for two weeks in vain. I found those apps extremely useful to seek emergency help, medical help, making emergency contacts, monitoring the surroundings at night and many more. Let me explain each of them so that you can select the apps that would work for you and your children’s safety â€"

Name: bSafe

Platform: Android, iPhone and Blackberry

Price: Free

bSafe has been reportedly cater greatly to many moms and college students who are apprehensive about their safety, street assaults and crime. The app features one touch activation alarm that sets GPS positioning of the users as well. bSafe also allow renders with GPS navigation, automatic alarm activation with time mode, fake call initiation, up to 5 calls can be made simultaneously and unlimited number of text messages can be sent to preset number of guardians. Moms can monitor and track kids’ position real time.

Name: Night Recorder

Platform: iPhone, iPod touch and iPad

Price: $2.99

I know it is paid unlike bSafe, but if you get to record your daughter when she is walking through an isolated thoroughfare or neighborhood or is in danger, would you really mind paying $2.99? This is a good recording application with one-touch recording benefits. When your children are passing through a marooned neighborhood or subway and suspects presence of a stalker, may just tap on this app top start the cam rolling the surroundings. The app works even when the iPhone is in standby mode, the user can narrate the situation and talk about landmarks abd current location. Once recorded, the recording can be sent via e-mails to respective contacts. I found it a mandatory for my offspring’s safety and emergency.

Well, I am also considering a few more top rated emergency and safety apps like

  • Resurrection iWitness, (iPad and requires iOS 3.2 and later, download for US$0.99)
  • RESCUE  (iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad; download for US$4.99)
  • StreetSafe (iPhone with iOS 4.0 and later; free download)
  • StaySafe (iPhone, iPod touch and iPad running iOS 4.0 and later; download for $1.99)

These apps are savior and give me peace of mind, hence, make iPhone the emergency and monitoring tool when your child is outside.
