‘The Sims FreePlay’ Now Available On iPhone And iPad

With 5 or so separate titles now available, EA hasn't been shy when it comes releasing The Sims on iPhone and iPad . Now they have released The Sims FreePlay so anyone can watch Sims run around while the house goes up in flames without having to spend a dime.

The Sims FreePlay is pretty much what you'd expect out of Sims game. We start off by creating a character and the game gives us certain goals to reach with that character. Players will basically continue through by creating new homes and new Sims to fill them while we sit back and let the sometimes hilarious interactions between the virtual neighbors entertain us.

Though the game is a free-to-play title EA hasn't forgotten that they need to make money and in-app purchases are there to make progressing through the game a little faster. Just like other Sims games you have to buy furniture, expand homes and do some landscaping to keep your Sims happy and if you don't have enough Simoleons (the in-game currency) to do this the game isn't shy about asking you to spend real money on some.

I haven't really spent that much time with The Sims FreePlay, but I can say the graphics look alright and the touch screen controls work very well. The camera can be spun around whichever Sim you're focusing on by twisting two fingers and the typical pinch-to-zoom works just as it should. The only problem I had was a few inaccurate screen taps to get a Sim to move. For instance, if you tap on the wall of a house your Sim may begin to scurry outside, but it was easily correctable.

The Sims FreePlay will let players create 16 different Sims with 1,200 different customization options for clothes and living quarters, including a few different pets. As we mentioned before it is completely free unless you want to spend money on in-app purchases and it's available from the App Store [1] right now.
