Apple iPhone App Downloads Per Day Reach 5.65Mn

The Apple iPhone 4S has made a substantial effect on total iPhone app downloads, marketing tech firm Fiksu reports.

The analyst company’s App Store Competitive Index [1] evaluates daily bulk downloads for the top 200 free apps in the App Store within the United States.

Last month, this figure achieved a record-breaking 5.65 million downloads per day, which beat October’s previous all-time record of 4.91 million daily downloads.

The number of app downloads for November also is a milestone for surpassing the five million mark, a first in the index’s history.

With the massive popularity of Apple products, the release of iPhone 4S currently rides the wave set by its predecessors, as more activations of iPhones and phones from rival companies continue, giving free apps a momentous success in the mobile market.

The significance of the feat is noteworthy for the sheer number of mobile apps downloaded in a short period.

Fiksu cited that iOS 5, the latest mobile operating system from Apple, also helped increase the number of daily downloads.

The iOS 5 release allowed app developers to make relevant updates for their apps and add support for features such as iCloud, which triggered to the resurgence and popularity of app downloads.
