As we predicted, Apple release iOS Beta 4 today, the fourth and final pre-release version of iOS 5 in its developers channel . While we don’t know much about this release yet, it’s expected to contain a vast amount of bug fixes and small feature tweaks.
If you have a registered developers account with Apple you can get your hands on iOS 5 beta 4 ipsw files right now for free from the links below, whereas non-developers will have to wait until all the ipsws are manually downloaded and then re-uploaded to file sharing sites.
iOS 5 Beta 4 is available for the following iDevices:
- iPad 1
- iPad 2
- iPhone 4 (GSM/CDMA)
- iPhone 3GS
- iPod Touch (3rd gen/4th gen)
- Apple TV
iOS 5 was first announced at WWDC, Apple’s developer-oriented conference, along with the release of iOS 5 Beta 1 for registered developers only. Some of the permanent features of iOS 5 beta 1 were a new notification center, iCloud and Apple’s new cross-device messaging platform iMessage .

How to Install iOS 5 beta 4 on iPhone / iPad / iPod touch
In order to install iOS 5 beta 4 on your idevice, you need to follow 6 simple steps
Step 1: Download iOS 5 beta and iTunes beta for your device from the links given above.
Step 2: Install iTunes 10.5 beta 4
Step 3: Open the iOS beta 4 file that you downloaded in the first step by double clicking it. This will mount the image.
Step 4: Launch iTunes 10.5 beta 4 and connect your iOS device. Click on Sync option.
Step 5: Hold down the Option key and click Restore. Navigate to the mounted image and select the xxxxx.ipsw file.
Step 6: iTunes will now format your device and install a fresh copy of iOS 5 beta 4, it will then confirm you that your device has been unlocked.
As of this moment you have successfully installed iOS 5 beta 4 on your iOS device, in order to restore your data from backup file follow step 7.
Step 7: iTunes will now ask you to restore from backup. Click Continue, this process may take upto 15 mins based on the size of your backup.
Congratulations, you no longer need to connect your iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch to a PC and iTunes for updates.
Note: If you receive an error 3002, it’s because you selected the option Upgrade rather than option Restore in step 5.
