SwiftKey launches Theme Store for its iOS keyboard

SwiftKey â€" one of the most popular third-party keyboards on the iOS App Store â€" has received a major update today that adds a theme store to it.

The theme store currently contains 12 theme, including an animated one. The update also adds some major performance and stability improvements to the keyboard.

SwiftKey had introduced its theme store first on Android last year, where users have downloaded more than 26 million themes until now. The company had released an iOS version of its keyboard last year, and it is only now that it is bringing its theme store to it.

The 12 new themes include five Nickel themes and six minimal themes. Out of them, three themes â€" Nickel Light, Nickel Dark and Happy Holidays â€" are completely free to download and use, with others costing either $0.99 or $1.99.

The new animated theme, Shooting Stars, is based on the night sky design and will move as users move their iPhone or iPad to add a realistic feeling to it.

The performance and stability improvements will reduce SwiftKey’s the instances when the keyboard was automatically replaced by the stock iOS keyboard. SwiftKey, however, recommends its users to restart their device after they have installed the update for the changes to take effect.

Update: The theme store currently seems to be having some issues, but the SwiftKey team is working hard on fixing them.
