iOS 8.3 Beta 1 Download For iPhone, iPad And iPod touch Released

Surprise! iOS 8.2 isn’t rolling out as yet, but Apple has just released iOS 8.3 beta 1 download for the developers iOS devices. While iOS 8.2 also remains in beta mode, beta 5 of which was released only a week ago.


With today’s roll-out of a pre-release iOS 8.3 beta to dev’s should reaffirm that Apple is really stepping up its firmware cycle. Haveing recently pushed iOS 8.1.3 download links to the end user, iOS 8.2 remain well into its beta program. And apparently slated for release over the next few weeks. Finally, the Cupertino has just pushed a first beta of iOS 8.3 to registered developers.

iOS 8.2, will be essential to the launch of Apple Watch , a wearable product that Tim Cook confirmed it for shipping in April . And as this beta showing demonstrates, the Mac maker is already looking ahead to what’s next in Apple smartwatch.

The changelog for the iOS 8.3 beta haven’t provided much data, although it does arrived accompained by Xcode 6.3 with Swift v1.2. We haven’t yet got the chance to give it a proper test run, but once we have, we’ll have a feature article on this big changes and potential bugs.

The iOS 8.3 beta with a build number 12F5027d will likely to include several bug fixes. As a .1 update, it may also introduce new features. Xcode 6.3, included with the beta, introduces a new version of the Swift language. According to Apple’s release notes, Swift version 1.2 includes “a number of noteworthy changes” to the language. Xcode 6.3 also includes enhancements to ease interoperability between Swift and Objective-C code.


Update x1: New features in iOS 8.3 based on testing appears to remove the “beta” label from iCloud Photo Library and it offers new CarPlay features, in the form of wireless connectivity. The CarPlay settings in the image below is located in the General section of the Settings app, below Siri, Spotlight search, and Handoff & Suggested Apps.

Note: With the iOS 8.3 beta, currently, iPhones are only able to connect to CarPlay via the Lightning port.


iOS 8.3 also introduces a new set of emoji picker, much like OS X 10.10.3 , released to developers last week. Emoji picker organizes emoji into categories in a scrollable list, but it does not appear to include placeholders for new emoji or anm option for selecting new skin tones.


With the support for Google two-step verification when logging into and adding Google accounts on iOS, 8.3 beta removes some of the need for app specificf passwords.


The release note of iOS 8.3 says, Apple Pay may be available in China in the near future, while the new beta iOS 8.3 introducxes support for the China UnionPay network as previously rumored. Another minor iOS 8.3 change is in Passbook, which according to the notes, now it devides ApplePay credit/debit cards and other cards into sections labled “Apple Pay” and “Passes”.

Provided that you’re a registered developer, you can go ahead and install the iOS 8.3 beta right now. In fact you’ll need one free iOS device handy if you wish to keep up with both, iOS 8.2 and iOS 8.3 beta. Or else, you may have to forgo iOS 8.2 beta 2 download for now.
