1. Phhhoto for iPhone
The Phhhoto [2] Â app for iPhone [3] Â takes a series of photos in quick succession and stitches them together to make a selfie gif. Besides being Katy Perry and Diplo endorsed, the app is pretty bare bones with just two filter options. Except the two filters "Daze" and the black-and-white "Solo" are pretty much perfection, giving your selfie gifs a grainy, old school vibe that blurs out any imperfections. You can post your Phhoto selfie gifs on the ap p's Instagram-like feed or share them via text, email or Twitter .
2. Selfie360 for iPhone, Android
The Selfie360 [4] Â app for iPhone [5] Â and Android [6] Â is probably best for showing off your location whether it's at some awesome party or an exotic holiday destination. To take a selfie gif in panoramic mode, center your face in the outline provide and spin around slowly. The default gif speed is way too fast but you can slow it down in edit. You can post your selfie gifs to the #Selfie360 user feed or share them via Instagram, Facebook , email and text.

The Funimate [7] Â app for iPhone [8] Â is like the Mac photo booth of selfie gif generators. The free app has 18 different effects including "4 Crazy", "Stop motion" and "4 Mirror". You can also add texts to your selfie gif after choosing the effect. You can share your Funimate selfie gif via Instagram, Twitter , Whatsapp, text, Tumblr, Facebook and email but there is Funimate logo in the bottom right corner unless you pay $1.99 for the pro version.
4. GifBoom for iPhone, Android
The GifBoom app for iPhone [9] Â and Android [10] Â is a more involved selfie gif generator with 4 modes of shooting, 15 filters, and the ability to add music and text. You can even edit each shot by splitting, slowing down or drawing over a frame. To create a selfie gif, press the red button to take a photo and hold it down to shoot video.

The Lightt [11] Â app for iPhone [12] Â and Android [13] Â is even more involved than GifBoom, offering 16 effects, 16, filters and the ability to add music and edit clips by adding voice recording record ings, reversing the clip and changing the order of the clips. To create a Lightt selfie gif, hold down the record button, when you add additional clips there is a ghost option so you can line up your face.
6. Phogy for Android
The Phogy app for Android [14] Â lets you take selfies that move when you move your phone like a digital lenticular image. To use the Phogy app, just point at a moving target and press the start button. Move you device to the right while keeping your smartphone steady like you would if taking a panoramic shot. You can edit your Phogy with filters and share a gif of your moving selfie to Google + or Tumblr.
7. Cinemagram for iPhone, Android
The Cinemagram [15] Â app for iPhone [16] Â and Android [17] Â lets you create half photo and half video images. The app works by locating what's moving in a picture and what's not moving, turnin g the moving part into a gif and the static part into a photo. You can then edit your half photo half video hybrid by adding text and filters. You can also animate more areas by selecting those areas.
