Google Maps For iPhone - The Most Comprehensive Choice For iPhone Users

If you are one of those people who had trouble in downloading Google Maps in the past week, you understand the frustration. The reason Google Maps was so difficult to download last week was that numerous people were trying to download this application â€" more than 10 million people in 48 hours downloaded Google Maps! Apple’s users have been looking for Google Maps to return ever since it was removed from the iPhone and got replaced by Apple’s own software. Google has certainly released Maps application for iPhone making it fast, full featured and to be honest the best-looking mobile applications available in the market today.

Why no to iOS 6 and yes to Google Maps?

Due to being habitual to the reliability of the Google Maps, iPhone users were not able to cope with Apple’s Map application, iOS 6 Maps, because it showed many inaccurate results and lacked some features such as transportation information that were present in Google Maps, plus some maps were substantially less clear. Extreme criticism from its users even resulted in an apology by the Apple CEO Tim Cook for this poorly made software. On the other hand, Google Maps for iPhone includes all the features that can be expected from a competent maps application including voice-guided turn by turn navigation, vector-based graphics that appears smooth at any size and color, and coded real time traffic conditions. This application also has Google’s Street View that allows users to take a virtual walk down the streets and getting walking directions and options of public transportation.

Navigation Turn-by-Turn even when not using the Application

Spoken turn by turn directions through notifications are given even if you are not in the application, your screen is locked or you are using some other application. Google has cleverly utilized the standard iOS “Local Notification” feature. It is a standard iOS application using the standard iOS APIs. Turn-by-turn directions on iOS 6 Maps was quite fussier to use due to unclear maps it had. The reason might be the lack of information which made them less clear.

Hidden Features

Some hidden features are present: for instance a two-finger swipe to the left brings menu up along with toggles for traffic and satellite view. A shake will bring up an option from anywhere within the application in order to send a report to Google mentioning about some problem with the map or with the application itself.

Profound User Interface

The iPhone version of Google Maps bears a clean, visibile and more decent interface whereas Android’s Google Maps has no fewer than three options menus that are available on main screen. It appears that developers of Google Maps have put in their best effort and all the learning related to application design and performance in the previous year and formed it into Maps.

Conclusion

If you own an iPhone and use the navigation tool frequently, Google Maps offers simply a better experience. So get your hands on Google Maps to seek help while travelling to different places in the New Year 2013.
