As previously reported, Fire Emblem: Awakening will be released in North America on February 4th. Starting on launch day, Nintendo will also start to release additional maps/missions for download, which they say will be distributed on a regular basis.
Â
The first downloadable map for Fire Emblem: Awakening will be free for a limited time, and will serve as an introduction to the weekly stream of further maps to be made available for purchase.
Â
The various maps will be offered at different price points, and players will be able to download them through the Outrealm Gate located on the in-game world map, which is unlocked after completing the fifth mission in story mode.
Â
What kind of DLC does Fire Emblem: Awakening have? In the latest DLC mission released in Japan, Chrom and another character, Anna, visit a faraway hot springs , when undead soldiers decide to crash the party. The DLC mission before that has Anna invite Chrom to the beach , and they get attacked by zombies.
Â
Not all of Fire Emblem: Awakeningâs DLC missions are that humorous, though. A DLC mission Japan received in October depicts an alternate, hopeless future where war rages on, and shows what happens to the gameâs child characters.
Â
As previously reported, Fire Emblem: Awakening also has StreetPass and SpotPass functions built into it. SpotPass will allow you to download the DLC missions, as well as characters and items. Meanwhile, StreetPass will allow you to exchange data with other Nintendo 3DS owners around you. Youâll be able to recruit characters or buy weapons from other 3DS ownersâ parties.
Â
Finally, Fire Emblem: Awakening will see a free demo released on the Nintendo eShop. This will be available on January 17th. The full game will be released on February 4th in the U.S. and in April in Europe.
