Many of you have probably heard of Gameloft’s Asphalt series of racing games, which at this point have come a long way since its beginnings. The latest in the series, Asphalt 7: Heat, was released over the summer and has been the best of the series so far, as it’s a full-blown arcade racer wrapped in a shiny package.

The best part about the whole ordeal is that you can currently grab Asphalt 7 for free. The game has always been 99 cents, which is a bargain for such a full-featured title. This is probably due to the pricing model the game runs as it requires you to play a lot to earn enough in-game currency to buy all the various cars and upgrades. For those of you who end up becoming impatient, you can also buy in-game currency, which is where the company probably makes most of its money.

Even after you remove the entry barrier, which is the cost of the game itself, many people who were previously on the fence about the game can give it a whirl now. You don’t have much to lose other than time and space (as the game is over 1GB). For those of you who are racing game fans, if you don’t already have the game, than this is a must-have as it compares favorably to EA’s recently released Need for Speed Most Wanted (which costs $6.99). If you are interested in checking the game out, you can watch the launch trailer below to get an idea of what it’s like:

You’ll have to hurry to get the game for free though as the deal only lasts for the day.
