Even eHarmony knows that dates can be disastrous. According to The Week [1] , the online dating service for ugly people who are ready for marriage has unveiled a new free iPhone app to help you end a date without hurting your dateâs feelings.
The Bad Date Rescue App is a simple concept: instead of asking a friend to call you mid-date with a fake emergency, you can get an automatic phone call from this app. But it goes beyond other apps that call: the app lets you choose precisely when the call arrives (even down to the second), and also lets you specify the emergency (maniac poodle? Bieber fever?).
My favorite part is that the app will even go through your phone book and choose a photo to pop up along with the call (so I guess step one is making sure you have photos in your address book). Youâll also hear a fake voice on the other end. If youâre nervous about explaining the emergency, you can opt for a ârepeat after meâ script in which the voice tells you what to say.
I admit Iâve never pulled the fake emergency during a bad date⦠is it really that hard to sit through a meal, say âhave a nice nightâ and ignore a guyâs texts for eternity? Then again, Iâve never had a momâs-basement-dweller show me his gunshot wounds over ziti, the way my sister has.
Would you use the Bad Date Rescue app?
