No time to buy and mail a greeting card? Hallmark Cards Inc. Â has an app for that.
For those on the go who care enough to send the very best (quickly), the Kansas City-based greeting card giant has launched a free Go Cards app for the iPhone that lets users pick, personalize and send a paper greeting card.
Sending a card costs $3.49, which includes postage.
âSmartphones have high-quality cameras that make it easy to capture everyday moments,â Paul Barker , vice president of Hallmark digital, said in a release. âThose photos can now instantly be added to a personalized Hallmark card to send to friends and loved ones to share in that moment. In this busy world of ours, Hallmark wants to help make connecting with loved ones a little bit easier.â
Initially, Hallmarkâs app offers 77 cards across these categories: birthday, just because/thank you, love and flirts, well wishes, for laughs and seasonal cards. (Check out the images to the right to see an example.)
The Go Cards app also lets users import contacts from Facebook accounts and the iPhone, offers a concierge service to help find the right card and a message library, and allows for personal signatures by writing with a finger on the smartphoneâs screen. Cards, which will be updated frequently, also can be saved and shared.
Hallmark said it will enhance the app based on consumer feedback.
The company, which reported flat 2011 revenue of $4.1 billion , has been trying to combat a sluggish economic recovery, which it has said cut into customersâ ability to buy cards, gifts and school supplies.
