Microsoft has updated the SkyDrive app on iOS devices, bringing better management features and sharing options to iPhone and iPad. The company is also releasing a new preview client for OS X Lion, letting users manage their SkyDrive right from the Finder.

SkyDrive 2.0 for iOS now supports the iPad’s big screen, including the new iPad with Retina display, brings the ability to choose multiple photos or videos to upload from the iDevice, lets you send a link in email or get a link you can copy and paste.

Features

  • Access your SkyDrive right from the Finderâ€"photos, documents, and all your other important files.
  • Quickly add new files to SkyDrive by dragging them to the SkyDrive folder.
  • Easily organize your files and folders in SkyDrive, just like any other folder.

With SkyDrive for iPhone and iPad , you can now freely move, delete, rename, or create new folders, and even open your SkyDrive files in other iOS apps.

SkyDrive 2.0 is a universal app, meaning you download once and install it on any iDevice.

Moving on to the desktop client, SkyDrive for Mac creates a folder on your computer where all your content is displayed and is automatically kept in sync between your devices and SkyDrive.com.

It works pretty much like Dropbox, in that you can get to your files from virtually anywhere.

“Whenever you add, change, or delete files in one location, all the other locations will be updated,” Microsoft explains. The key features are listed as follows:

Access your SkyDrive right from the Finderâ€"photos, documents, and all your other important files. Quickly add new files to SkyDrive by dragging them to the SkyDrive folder. Easily organize your files and folders in SkyDrive, just like any other folder.

It appears that Microsoft didn’t want SkyDrive for Mac distributed on the Mac App Store. Either that, or Apple hasn’t approved it yet.
