Coca-Cola launches Olympic Games My Beat Maker iPhone app

Coca-Cola has been working with Mark Ronson on a music-focused campaign for this summer’s Olympic Games â€" Ronson and Coke exec Wendy Clark talked about it on-stage [1] at Midem in January.

Now there’s an app for that called Coca-Cola Olympic Games My Beat Maker [2] , which was quietly released for iPhone on Friday â€" we spotted it while checking our App Store RSS feeds today.

“My Beat Maker uses amazing technology to detect the movements of your phone and transform them into music so you can make your own beats,” explains its App Store listing.

“Bust out your own loops and beats based on the official Coca-Cola anthem for the London 2012 Olympic Games, Mark Ronson featuring Katy B’s Anywhere in the World, just from the motion of your phone.”

Users can then share their creations to Coca-Cola’s community and Facebook. It doesn’t say who the developer was, although the motion-making-music angle reminds us of RjDj.

We’ve been playing with the app, and it’s good fun: some of the samples are music (bass, vocals and synths) while others are of athletes and sports sound-effects â€" the same constituent parts that Ronson has used for the official song.

The app is free to download, and for now is iPhone-only â€" although given Samsung’s appearance on the title screen as a partner, we wouldn’t be surprised to see an Android version in the coming days too.
