Burn the Rope Worlds free iPhone app review

Burn the Rope Worlds : 4 Out of 5

Well, if you’re not already familiar with Burn the Rope, join the club! This is the first I’ve heard of it too but I’m definitely glad I stumbled upon it in the App Store. It packs a lot of punch into a small device app. I have heard some pretty good reviews about this app but I, of course, had to check it out for myself. So far I haven’t been disappointed.

The gameplay is similar in some ways to games such as Cut the Rope and even Angry Birds in that you cannot move on until you’ve obtained a certain score rating. Burn about 60% of the rope and you will obtain a bronze medal and move on to the next board. You will need to rotate your phone around in several ways to keep the flames burning. It’s a pretty simple concept but the rope will not burn in a downward fashion. This means that you’ll need to follow the curves of the rope and you’ll need to do it fast. The longer you wait the more likely it is that the fire will burn out and leave you replaying the level. Each new level will present a new rope “shape” so it’s never the same thing over and over again which makes it even more fun, interesting and challenging!

There are a few “bugs” along the way and setting them on fire will ultimately result in something unique. In this game burning ants will make the flames color change and that will give you different colored designed ropes and spiders have yet another affect. Spiders will shoot out silk which connects more than one area together. This installment of the app apparently introduces the water bug which will douse the flames so you should be careful of that one since all of your hard work could be pointless.

This particular installment sports 100 different fun and challenging levels and there are also four different themes. Occasionally you’ll get an opportunity to play a mini-game. Here you’ll need to burn as many bugs as you can but you’re only given a certain amount of time to do it.

If you’re not into feeling the pressure then you may like the casual mode a bit better. Here you’re not going to need to deal with any type of time constraints or colored ropes which will ultimately make the process faster and easier for you. The classic mode is going to require you to burn at least 60% of the object in order to move on. However, regardless of which mode you like, even if you’re partial to both, you can swap between the two at any time and your progress is shared between them.

This particular app also features the daily puzzle! If you’re looking for an ad-free play here then keep wishing but it’s totally worth it since they’re pretty cool and they’re updated daily so there’s no duplicate puzzles. There’s also an endless mode which is pretty fun and it’s different from the original game. Instead of burning the rope your goal will be to tilt the device around burning bugs. Depending on the bug and its unique abilities you can increase the length of the flame and so forth. The goal is to keep the flame going as long as you can without it burning out. So far it definitely fits into my selection for one of the best free iPhone apps [1] .
