14 Best New iOS Apps And Games Of August 2015 For iPhones And iPads

Despite Android's customizability, plethora of features and open-source architecture, Apple Inc.'s ( NASDAQ:AAPL ) iOS is still considered the best platform for mobile applications and games. Apple's refined unison of hardware and software leads to drastically improved performance for apps in comparison to the competing platform.

August has been a very fresh month for apps if you own an iPhone or an iPad. iOS got a handful of neat new apps you can check out, ranging from photography to one-minute presentations. It’s all there, let’s check them out.

Etsy (Etsy Local)

If you’re like me, you’ve probably wasted endless hours looking at the infinite unique items Etsy has to offer. The company has just updated their app for incorporate “Etsy Local” inside of the app.

Now you get a neat looking map showing you nearby sellers in your vicinity. It works and looks exactly like the desktop version, and coming with Etsy’s huge database of products, it makes it easier for you to shop if you’re more of a local shopper.

Rizon

For the photographer in you, Rizon is a newly launched iOS app that can be bought for $2.99 and requires at least iOS 8. This app lets you take the perfect sunrise and sunset photo. It has a clockface which shows the “Golden Hour”, Twilight, Sunrise and Sunset.

Founderfox

Founderfox is an app for people who don’t want to waste away hours making a presentation. This app lets users make a one-minute sales pitch, for either an investor or media. It’s a pretty neat-looking app and it does what it says.

Recently

Recently is an app that wants to bring print publication back. It’s a monthly subscription based app that lets you print a photobook based on the last 100 photos on your iPhone every month. If you don’t have a 100 new photos, it’ll print a photobook containing the last 50 new photos.

It’s a nice initiative but it’s only available in the US right now due to shipment of the photobook itself. It can be bought for $8.99 a month.

Moo-Q

If you’re someone who wants to know exactly what mood you’re in and at what time, Moo-Q is the app for you. This app records the amount of activity you do throughout the day and also tells you when you’re the most efficient, based on your brain power.

For this app to work, you need to go through its cycle at least five times. The best part is, this app is free on the App Store.

Patterning

If you’re someone who’s interested in making beats and music, Patterning is a shiny new app for you. You’re going to love this app’s simple and streamlined interface if you’re familiar with a few other music making apps and programs.

It doesn’t have a steep learning curve for beginners either. The only downside about this app is that it’s for $9.99, but the price is justified with the app’s ability to let you make good music.

Donde Fashion

This one is for the fashionistas out there. Donde Fashion lets you choose from the 6,000 brands it has onboard currently. You can go through a wide variety of clothes and dresses, change every little aspect about those dresses and finalize them according to your own liking.

Donde Fashion lets you use any color on any dress, so the possibilities are endless here.

GIPHY Cam

Almost everyone has heard of GIPHY by now. Over the past few months, the app has grown exponentially. If you're still out of the loop, GIPHY Cam is an app which lets you make GIFs from photos and videos and export them. It’s a very light app with a super simple interface and it’s free! The app has gotten a lot of traction over the last month since users can now make their own GIFs instead of just sharing premade ones from GIPHY.

Whatsapp (Whatsapp Web)

Whatsapp just rolled out a huge update for iOS users. After months of making them wait while Android, Nokia and Blackberry users watched, Whatsapp has finally launched Whatsapp Web for iOS users.

Signily

We’ve seen a ton of third-party keyboards make their way into the app store over the last few months. Signily is for people who want to use sign language in their messages. The app has different skin colors and can also incorporate GIFs.

It is available for $0.99 but the money goes directly to charity since the app is made by a non-profit US organization called ASLized.

Portal

Portal is a file transfer app that lets you send files from your laptop to your iPhone. The app has no size limits for the files you transfer but it’s only one-sided for now. There is no way to send files from your phone to your laptop. But regardless, it’s a free app and it’s well worth the download.

Knock Knock

According to the developer:

“Knock Knock is the easiest way to connect, chat and swap contact information with people around you. Just knock twice on your phone.”

So all you need to do is tap your phone twice with someone’s phone and you share contact details with each other. This app is mainly focused on college students but no one’s judging you if you’re using it either. Plus, it’s free.

Moodnotes

Moodnotes is another app that lets you track your mental health and keep it healthy. This is a note-taking app that also tracks your mood along with every note. It then displays your mental health based on the level of sadness or happiness in your notes. It then gives you information on how to deal with a certain type of mood and how to keep an optimal mental state.

It’s available for $3.99 and it well worth the buy if you’re someone who wants to know exactly what’s going on up there in your mind.

Final Fantasy VII

When one of the best RPGs of all time finally arrives on the iOS, you download it! Final Fantasy VII is one of the most popular game of the series by Square Enix and you can now carry it in your pockets. It’s supposed to be more of a nostalgic experience so don’t expect any remastering.

Like every other big title out there, this game costs $15.99 and requires at least 4GB of free space to download and takes 2GB of space to install.
