How to Update from iOS 7 beta/iOS 7 GM to iOS 7 Public Release

ios-7-logo

Ever since Apple released iOS 7 yesterday, one of most common question by readers who had already installed iOS 7 GM or a beta versions of iOS 7 has been, how do I update to iOS 7 public release.

If you’re on GM then you don’t need to worry, the build number of the iOS 7 public release and iOS 7 GM is the same (11A465). So you don’t need to update to iOS 7 public release.

If you’re worried about expiry then please note that like the public releases, GM builds don’t have an expiry date, and if Apple releases iOS 7.0.1, you will be update to it via over-the-air (OTA) update. There is absolutely no difference between iOS 7 GM and iOS 7 public release.

If your iOS device is still on a beta version of iOS 7 then it is advisable to update to iOS 7 public release. You can follow these simple steps to update to iOS 7.

Backup of your iOS Device:

It is always a good idea to take a backup of your iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch before updating it with the latest iOS software update. (Note that if you choose to encrypt your backup using iTunes, along with normal data, secure information like passwords etc. are also backed up .)

You can back up your iOS device using iTunes or iCloud.
