Good news Chrome users, Google has updated its popular browser for iOS today. The update, which brings the app to version 26.0.1410.50, features a few handy new additions, including fullscreen browsing for the iPhone and iPod touch.
The app includes a few UI changes that make the new fullscreen browsing mode work, and a few new print and save options. Users can now print web pages with Google Cloud Print, or AirPrint, and save pages as PDF files to Google Driveâ¦
Hereâs the full change log for todayâs update:
Whatâs New in Version 26.0.1410.50
Fullscreen for iPhone and iPod touch
-Scroll the toolbar off the screen to enjoy the full page of content.
-Quickly re-access the omnibox by scrolling back down.Printing
-Print web pages with Google Cloud Print or AirPrint.
-Save any page as a PDF to Google DriveStability / security improvements and bug fixes
Thereâs no Settings toggle for the new fullscreen browsing mode in Chrome. The way it works is that as you scroll down a webpage, the omnibox and menu bar disappear, leaving your display full of nothing but website. Scroll up to bring it back.
I donât use Google Cloud Print or Google Drive, so I canât speak to those features, but Iâm sure folks who do use them are happy to see them added. I do, however, use an AirPrint-capable printer. And Iâm happy to say that this option works great.
If youâre already a Chrome user, this update is a no-brainer. And for the folks still using Safari or another browser, this update is worth checking out. As usual, you can find Chrome for iOS in the App Store [1] , for both the iPhone and iPad, for free.
