How to Set up and Get Started with Your Newly Bought iPhone 5?

Hinted by several reports from numerous sources there could be some supply chain issues following the iPhone 5 launched in India, as less iPhone 5 units have reached the country. That means, only those consumers who have pre-ordered the handset will receive it immediately and the rest will have to wait for a fortnight to have their hands on the iPhone 5.

However, for those lucky chaps who have managed to buy the iPhone 5, here is a quick guide on how to get the initial setup done on your brand new iPhone 5.

Step 1: Use the small SIM removal tool in the package of the handset to eject the SIM card tray and push it into the pin hole on the right spine of the iPhone 5. The small tray will pop out and you can put the Nano SIM card into this tray and slide it in.

Step 2: Transferring contacts from iPhone 4S to iPhone 5 can be done using iCloud. If it is from Android to iPhone 5 you need to backup contracts to Googlemail and then transfer it using iTunes by syncing it with Googlemail.

Transferring contacts from a BlackBerry smartphone to an iPhone 5 is a little more complicated. You will need to download and install the Blackberry Desktop Software from their website in order to sync your contacts with your PC and then use iTunes to copy it to iPhone 5.

Step 3: To setup Internet on the iPhone 5, you need to go to Settings and choose Wi-Fi and then type in the password of your wireless network.

Step 4: For email setup, click Settings and go to Mail, Contacts, Calendars and then choose Add Account. Select the type of email account from the list and enter your details. Once you have added your account, click the Mail icon from the main menu to access you emails.

Step 5: Setting up social networks on the handset is easy as iOS 6 offers deep integration with Twitter and Facebook. All you need to do is open Settings menu and click on the install butting next to Twitter and Facebook and sign in with your Apple ID and password to download the app.

Step 6: To setup iCloud, the online cloud storage service, go to Settings menu, sign in with Apple ID and password on the iCloud option and then select the data you want to sync with iCloud.

Step 7: While you receive a call on iPhone 5, you can either answer it or send a text message to the caller and reject it. You can send a predefined custom message by going to Settings, Phone and then to Reply with Message option and typing the message there. There is also a Do Not Disturb feature to reject calls automatically.

Step 8: To set a passcode for privacy, go to Settings, General and Passcode Lack to prevent others from snooping into your iPhone 5.
