Facebook Messenger FREE iPhone App Arrives: Fix The Main App Zuckerberg!

Despite there being many chat / message apps for Facebook out on the App Store and even with the official Facebook app has support for it, Facebook has gone ahead and released Facebook Messenger for FREE .

The app is focused just on that: sending messages to your friends directly, without having to go through the rest of the stuff on the Facebook app. The app is, as with regular messaging and chat get achieved as ongoing conversations on Facebook.

Messenger is a separate app, so it only takes one click to get to your messages or send a new one. Messages are delivered through notifications and texts, so your friends are more likely to get them right away.

You can use Messenger to reach all of your friends — whether they’re on Facebook or in your phone contacts. All you have to do is type the person’s name.

As MacRumors points out, Facebook Messenger is a challenge to other services, such as BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) and Apple’s upcoming iMessage. Like those services, it uses data instead of text messages to communicate. Facebook Messenger is available on the AppStore as a universal app for iPhone and iPad, for free. Download it now
