Heritage Valley Health System has released “iHVHS,” an Apple iPhone app that delivers real-time patient activity information and assists users in finding Heritage Valley services closest to their location, Heritage Valley announced today.
The iHVHS app is free and available through the Health & Fitness category of the Apple iTunes App Store, according to a statement from Heritage Valley.
The 1.10 version of the iHVHS app features a mobile edition of the popular “Patient Activity Indicator,” which has been available at heritagevalley.org since June 2009. The activity indicators show, in real-time, how many patients are currently receiving services at
various Heritage Valley locations, including the emergency departments at the hospitals in Sewickley and Beaver, Heritage Valley ConvenientCare walk-in clinics located in five area Walmart [1] stores and various outpatient laboratory test centers.
In addition, iHVHS enables users to access healthcare quality comparison data and easily locate a Heritage Valley physician or service.
The app uses geo-tracking to direct consumers to the nearest Heritage Valley site, regardless of their location.
The “What’s Closest to Me” option of the app also includes easy mapping capabilities and one touch dialing.
"Heritage Valley is a true community health system, accessible to all. For those consumers who have an iPhone, the iHVHS app is a convenient tool to help access information about our
services,” Norm Mitry, president and CEO of Heritage Valley, said in a statement.
"Features on the app such as location maps and directions and push button phone dialing bring this technology to the consumer’s fingertips and makes getting in touch with a Heritage Valley provider or location easier than ever."
Future updates of the app are being planned, which will include a mobile version of the expanding online Health Link, also currently available on Heritage Valley's website [2] .
Health Link enables patients of Heritage Valley providers the ability to view lab test results online and self schedule appointments.
To download a free copy of the iHVHS iPhone app, visit the Apple iTunes App Store and search under “iHVHS” or “Heritage Valley.” Or, visit www.heritagevalley.org and click on the iHVHS button on the home page.
