Those of you who enjoy app deals will be interested to know that Sky Guide is available for free right now. Apple is currently offering promo codes for the award-winning star-gazer, which typically costs $1.99 [1] , within its Apple Store [2]  app.

For those who aren’t familiar with it, Sky Guide is a star and constellation guide that automatically aligns itself when you hold your device up to the sky. There may be many apps like it, but none of them are more beautiful or easy to use.

Apple describes the app:

Is it a star or Saturn? Learning what’s in your night sky is now effortless with Sky Guide. hold your iPhone or iPad up and Sky Guide automatically aligns itself to the stars above youâ€"no setup or Wi-Fi required!

Additionally, Sky Guide is available for Apple Watch . So you can view a calendar of upcoming astronomical eventsâ€"meteor showers, full moon, etc.â€"and receive alerts when such events are visible in the sky, without pulling out your phone.

To grab your free copy, simply launch the Apple Store app [3]  (not to be confused with App Store), navigate to the ‘Stores’ tab and scroll down to the bottom of the page. If you see the ‘Start something new’ image, you may try swiping to the right.

Note that these steps are for the iPhone only, not iPad, and I’m not sure exactly which countries this promotion is available for outside of the US. But Sky Guide is an incredible app, a 2014 Apple Design Award winner, and worth checking out.
