Spark promises to make reading emails on your iPhone fun

There are plenty of apps on the App Store that offer to help you read emails swiftly. Spark joins the lot and tries to differentiate itself with a “fun, friendly and fully customizable” experience.

Spark is a free-for-all email app. That means you won´t need to wait in line for an invite to use the service. And considering that you won´t have to pay a penny to download it, it ends up being a good alternative to consider when looking for an easy way of organizing and reading your messages.

Once you open the app, simply log in with your email address and password â€" Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo and other email providers are supported.

Spark´s interface is very straight forward: in the main screen you will see the smart inbox feature by default, with your emails organized by group, newsletters and personal messages, and an option to pin important conversations at the top for easy access.

When you get an email, you can either write a proper response or answer with a pre-established Like, emoticon or “Thank you” message to save some time. You can also start an email by tapping the “+´” button on lower right side.

Spark´s developers wrongly used the term “widget” on the App Store description to refer to a calendar button inside the app, instead of an email extension for Notification Center. So, you know, don’t get too excited when you come up against the word while downloading the app.

The left side bar in the main screen enables you to access your sent and archive folders, and the app´s settings. Spark lets you know when the recipient has read your message â€" pretty useful when you send something important to a contact and want to know if they opened it or not.

Other features include Apple Watch compatibility, support for cloud services like Dropbox and OneDrive to save attachments right from Spark, and app customization through sidebars. Spark is also available for iPad, although on a 2X and lower resolution scale â€" something quite disappointing if you own an Apple tablet.

We don´t see Spark as a groundbreaking solution, but instead as another free option to choose from in the App Store. Let us know in the comment section below what you think of it.
