A near-perfect astronomy app, Sky Guide, can be downloaded for free via the Apple Store app [1] for a limited time only.
First off, if you havent already, download the Apple Store app on the App Store. Its free and universal for the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad/iPad mini [2] .
Once thats done, open the app and select the Stores section near the bottom of the home page. Scroll down a little bit to the first section, and then swipe right twice. Then youll see the offer to download the regularly $1.99 title for free.
If you open the Apple Store app on your iPad, just select the Stores tab, and then tap the section named Learn your night sky.
An Apple Design Award Winner for 2014, Sky Guide makes it easy to learn about whats hovering above. With the beautiful app, users can hold their iOS device to the sky and automatically find stars, constellations, planets, and more. And the enormous amount of content should help even the most familiar stargazer learn something new.
As a nice touch, the app even works without a Wi-Fi, data, or GPS signal, which makes it great for camping this summer.
Users can also take advantage of an Apple Watch version of the app to see a calendar of upcoming astronomical events and more. Heres an interactive preview of Sky Guide on the Apple Watch from our sister site WatchAware.
