Streaming options

NBC Sports Live Extra
(Web [2] | iOS [3] | Google Play [4] | Windows Phone [5] )

NBC_logoLooking to take full advantage of its year to broadcast the Big Game, NBC plans to stream the entirety of Super Bowl XLIX via its NBC Sports Live Extra website. Perhaps the greatest facet of NBC’s online stream is the fact viewers don’t require a subscription to par ticipating cable or satellite providers to watch the game, meaning the stream is completely free. Moreover, NBC Sports Live Extra also plans to broadcast Super Bowl XLIX’s halftime show â€" headlined by Katy Perry and Lenny Kravitz â€" for the first time ever online.

Coverage of Super Bowl XLIX on NBC Sports Live Extra begins at Noon ET with all of NBC’s pre-game coverage leading up to New England’s showdown with Seattle. Viewers of the live stream also have access to a brand new episode of the NBC drama The Blacklist, scheduled to air at the conclusion of NBC’s post-game coverage (tentatively scheduled for 10 p.m. ET).

NBC also offers streams of Super Bowl XLIX through its iOS, Android, and Windows Phone applications, each of which cost nothing to download. Like accessing the NBC Sports Live Extra website, it’s not required that viewers tether a participating cable or satellite provider to gain access to the stream. Simply download the a pp on an iPhone, iPad, Android, or Windows Phone to get all of NBC’s Super Bowl XLIX coverage right in the palm of your hand.

Verizon’s NFL Mobile
(iOS [6] | Google Play [7]  | Windows Phone [8]  | Blackberry [9] )

Verizon_logoThough it requires a $5 subscription â€" and remains exclusive to Verizon â€" the NFL Mobile app allows users access to up-to-the minute scores and highlights, as well as a live stream of the Big Game itself. If access to NBC Sports Live Extra doesn’t appear feasible for Sunday’s matchup, then spending the $5 on Verizon’s NFL Mobile application is an inexpensive and easy way to get your fill of Super Bowl XLIX.

NFL Network
(Web [10] )

NFL-logoEach day leading up to Sunday’s clash, NFL Network provides fans with it signature coverage, analysis, and breakdown of anything and everything NFL. The site does require users sign in with a compatible cable or satellite provider â€" of which Comcast is noticeably absent â€" in order to stream any of the network’s daily programming.

On game day, coverage begins at the early hour of 6 a.m. ET with Super Bowl’s Greatest Commercials 2015, followed by extensive coverage of the day’s big showdown. Though NFL Network doesn’t provide liv e streaming of Super Bowl XLIX itself, the channel does offer up-to-the-minute scoring updates and statistics throughout the game’s entirety. Once the clock strikes 0:00 and the confetti starts falling, tune into NFL Network to see Deion Sanders, Marshall Faulk, Michael Irvin, and Chris Rose break down all the action from the Big Game. Who knows, maybe they’ll even get Marshawn Lynch to open up a bit [11] during a post-game interviewâ€"unlikely, we know.

Other resources

NF L subreddit [12]

reddit-alienAn incredible resource for information about almost anything, Reddit has more than enough NFL information each week to satisfy any fan of the sport. With Super Bowl XLIX on tap for this weekend, expect a bevy of content related to the Big Game like media day interviews, in-depth analysis, and hilarious memes. Reddit’s loyal user base generates the site’s wealth of content, which is both a blessing, and a curse. You’ll find a slew of NFL-themed pictures, videos, and even alternative streaming sites on game days.

While Reddit is an excellent resource for anything and everything NFL, it’s incredibly easy to waste many an hour poking around the rest of the site. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.

ESPN’s Gamecast [13]

espn-logoThough not a video option, ESPN does offer its signature play-by-play Gamecast presentation for Super Bowl XLIX Sunday. Just navigate to the NFL scoreboard page via the ESPN website, click the game you’d like to follow, and a Gamecast window opens. This feature shows real-time events including every completed pass, interception, sack, or long TD run. Gamecast also lists each team’s stats, highlight videos, and what’s trending via Twitter.

Questionable streaming sites

Keep in mind most of the illegal streaming options available come loaded with unwanted sp am and a barrage of pop-up windows. Leaning on such links tends to be frustrating, particularly when it comes to finding quality video and audio feeds with little buffering.

However, you must also keep in mind many of these sites illegally broadcast the content, and your computer remains at a high risk of malware when using them. Nevertheless, you’ll notice the deep selection of links available to you once you find an adequate streaming site on the Web. Notorious sites â€" though technically legal given they only provide links to various broadcast streams instead of broadcasting the copyrighted content â€" fall upon the gr ay areas of the law.

Note: As a rule of thumb, never click on any link which asks you to download any HD Players, update your streaming software, or to install any “required” media players. These are often just spam links that could infect your computer with viruses.
