Looking for great content on your Mac and iOS devices that won’t break the bank? Check out Apple’s new “Free on iTunes” section, which highlights music, movies, and TV shows that you can download absolutely free.

Seemingly available only in the U.S. for now, the Free on iTunes section contains a selection of songs and full-length TV episodes that you can enjoy without paying a penny. It currently includes tracks from Purity Ring and Jauz, as well as shows like Fox’s Backstrom, SyFy’s 12 Monkey’s, and MTV’s Eye Candy.

According to MacRumors, the new section replaces Apple’s “iTunes Single of the Week” promotion, which offered users a free track every 7 days. For now, however, its “Free App of the Week” promotion still stands, and there is no software in the new Free on iTunes section.

It looked like Apple was toning down its generosity after it dropped its “12 Days of Gifts” promotion over the holidays, and neglected to discount any Macs or iOS devices on Black Friday prior to that. But for now, there’s still free content to enjoy if you’re an Apple user.

It’s unclear whether the Free on iTunes section will expand to include software, books, and movies later on, or whether it will eventually be offered to more markets. But for now, users in the U.S. can access it on both Mac or PC and iOS devices via the iTunes applications.
