Upgrade to iOS 8.1 Without Needing Much Free Storage

Upgrade to iOS 8.1 Without Needing Much Free Storage Apple iOS 8.12 300x179Apple’s iOS 8 hasn’t quite managed to greatly impress users so far. The iOS 8 adoption rate has been lower than earlier iOS versions. Not just that though, a lot of people haven’t been able to upgrade to iOS 8 due to the lack of available storage space on their device, as iOS 8 takes up almost 1GB of space before being installed and requires 4.6GB of free space for installation. Don’t worry though, even if you run out of space on your iPhone , you can still install the iOS 8 update via a different method.

In order to upgrade to iOS 8 when you have limited storage space available, you will need to use iTunes . So the first step would be to install the latest version of iTunes on your computer, if you do not have it already. Once you have it installed on your computer, make sure your iPhone has at least 50% charge left and connect it to your computer to begin the update process. It is also recommended that you backup your device with iTunes or to iCloud before upgrading, just in case you end up losing data during the process.

To begin with the upgrade, all you need to do is check for updates for your iPhone on iTunes, and let it download the software update to your computer. Once the latest iOS 8 software has been downloaded to your PC, iTunes will begin installing iOS 8.1 on your iPhone. The process could take a few minutes, so you have to be patient while it installs. After a few minutes and a couple of reboots, your iPhone should be running on the latest iOS version. That’s it. Now you can explore all the new iOS 8 features.

Do bear in mind that using this method will not allow you to downgrade back to iOS 7 or earlier versions. So you need to be sure you really want to upgrade to iOS 8 before you go ahead with the iTunes iOS upgrade method.
