Korean and international car infotainment vendor Hyundai MNSOFT has released their South Korea beta navigation app, “Mappy with Daumâ€, free to iPhone users.
The app was released four months ago for Android and so far has reached more than 700,000 downloads.
The app offers a complete off-board turn-by-turn GPS navigation experience with 3D views and live traffic.
Mappy is the mobile navigation application brand of HYUNDAI MNSOFT. The company is also th producer of the underlying navigation maps. In this solution the navigation software is combined with Daum, a well-known local web and mobile portal. Their activities include a mapping portal, Daum Maps, and local search service, Kakao Places.
While a free mobile app might seem surprising for a car infotainment vendor, the company is already forecasting the impact CarPlay and Android Auto will have on the industry.
