This is a list of the best iPhone 6 apps to showcase the power and the longevity of Appleâs current flagship. These iPhone 6 apps will get you to be more productive, help you to better secure your iPhone 6 and sensitive information and ultimately, have more fun and do more with your iPhone 6.
Many of these are free iPhone 6 apps, but there are certainly a few that are worth paying for if you want the best possible experience on your new iPhone 6. After using the device for over two months, these are some of the best iPhone 6 apps available. Great apps are essential to a great smartphone experience and are key to using the iPhone 6 to its full potential and all of these are highly recommended.
Whether youâve owned the iPhone 6 since launch or youâre just picking one up for the first time, you should consider taking at these applications because they will help you round out your iPhone experience.
Best iPhone 6 Apps
The following iPhone 6 apps are mostly comprised of the apps that I use every single day or at the very least, every week. Without these apps I wouldnât be able to use the iPhone 6 as much as I do, and it would not be a valid replacement for the Nexus 5 that I also carry with me on a regular basis. While most of these are my applications, a few of these come highly recommended by my colleague and fellow editor Josh Smith.
With these iPhone 6 apps I can take better advantage of social media, communicate with co-workers and friends, make my photos look a thousand times better, and get the most out of the one vacation I take per year.
Simply put, these are the best iPhone 6 apps that Iâve found and I think theyâre going to help you get a lot more out of your iPhone moving forward.
iPhone 6 Apps for Social Media
Tweetbot [1] - If you use Twitter as much as I do, Tweetbot is an essential application for your iPhone 6. It features a beautiful, clean interface and it allows you to easily interact with your follows and messages. Itâs not free and will set you back a bit but itâs better than the Twitter app for most things.
Twitter [2] - I also use Twitterâs official application on my iPhone 6. Itâs free, after all. The company has made some solid improvements and the app is far more fluid than it used to be. Itâs not perfect but itâs a solid alternative to Tweetbot if you donât want to shell out the cash.
Alien Blue [3] â"Â Occasionally, Iâll find myself looking at Reddit. Instead of going to the actual website, I use the Alien Blue client. It comes with a ton of features and an interface thatâs easy to navigate.
Facebook [4] - When I use Facebook, I use the official Facebook app for iPhone 6. The app has dramatically improved over the years with new functionality and better stability. Itâs also compatible with the iPhone 6âs larger screen which makes for beautiful looking content. If you use Facebook at all, get this app on your iPhone 6 immediately.
Hangouts [5] - Google Hangouts is the app I use for real time communication with co-workers, friends and family. Clean, simple interface that allows you to chat with tons of people at once. One of my most used iPhone 6 apps and one that I highly recommend.
Instagram [6] â" Instagram is probably the social network I use the most. If you love taking photos and sharing them with the world, get Instagram. It helps that it was recently updated to support the iPhone 6. Pictures and video look better than ever.
Must Have iPhone 6 Apps
HDE OTP [7] - If you use two-form authentication on any of your accounts, Gmail for instance, HDE OTP is an absolute godsend. Itâs a quick and easy way to ensure that your accounts are secured and that you have easy access to them. Quick and efficient and a must for those who use multi-factor authentication on the iPhone.
LastPass [8] - LastPass is one of the best iPhone 6 apps for managing passwords. It allows me to use strong passwords for all of my logins and it keeps them stored away for easy use. If you regularly log into a ton of sites on your iPhone 6 , LastPass is an application that youâre going to want to take a look at right now. It was recently updated with support for TouchID.
Find iPhone [9] - An essential iPhone 6 app. Appleâs Find iPhone application can help you find a stolen or lost iPhone. Get this on your iPhone 6 right now if you havenât already. Iâve already used it twice to track down my missing iPhone.
iPhone 6 Apps Youâll Love
DropBox [10] - DropBox is an extremely useful app if you want to back up files or if you are constantly sharing files between co-workers, friends and family. A solid alternative to Google Drive. I use both but prefer DropBox at the moment.
Google Search [11] â"Â The Google Search application is the iPhoneâs version of Google Now. Itâs not as good as the version found on Android but itâs still brings up vital information based on your Google Profile. I find myself using Google Now way more than Siri and I have a feeling many of you iPhone 6 users will end up the same.
Evernote [12] - Evernote is a beautiful application that allows you to take notes, cherish important moments, and keep your day organized. The app is much improved with the arrival of iOS 8 as it allows you to easily take note of content in Safari. A must have iPhone 6 application for those that like looking back as much as looking forward.
Swype [13] - Apple finally allows users to install official third-party keyboards without jailbreaking. One of the best options is Swype, an Android staple, that uses predictive swipes to make accurate predictions. Itâs a solid alternative to the stock iOS keyboard and itâs a keyboard that Iâve grown to love after years of use on Android.
SwiftKey [14] - There are people who also swear by Swiftkey. Theyâre similar, I prefer Swype to Swiftkey, but there are those of you that might feel more comfortable with Swiftkeyâs look and feel. Take a look at them both because both are good.
iPhone 6 Health Apps
Calm [15] - Occasionally, I have a bad day. If Iâm having a case of the blues, I often turn to an app called Calm. Calms helps to keep me cool and collected when things go south. Itâs a free application that offers tips for stress, meditation and offers soothing sounds and music to help bring you back down to the ground. I had it on my iPhone 5 and I kept it on my iPhone 6. I like it that much.
Sleep Cycle [16] - Sleep Cycle is one of my favorite iPhone 6 apps. It tracks and analyzes my sleeping patterns and then wakes me when I am actually ready to get up. The developer calls it an âintelligent alarm clockâ and thatâs exactly what it is. Extremely useful for those of you that arenât getting a lot of sleep or constently feel tired.
FirstAid by American Red Cross [17] - First Aid by the American Red Cross is a fantastic alternative to WebMD. It provides helpful tips in case of emergency and best of all, it provides all of that even when youâre offline. A must have application for all iPhone users.
iPhone 6 Entertainment Apps
Amazon Instant Video [18] - I use Amazon Prime and that Prime account grants me instant access to select television shows and movies through Amazonâs Instant Video service. This app allows me to watch these shows, including HBO titles, on my iPhone 6. The iPhone 6âs large screen size makes this far more enjoyable than the experience on my iPhone 5.
Remote [19] - Remote allows you to control iTunes Radio and Apple TV right from your phone. This is a must have if you own an Apple TV.
YouTube [20] â" I watch a ton of YouTube but I canât stand the web client. The app features a must better interface. This is one of my most used iPhone 6 apps and a must have for those of you that are constantly watching content on one of the webâs most popular websites.
Audible [21] - Occasionally, I like to indulge in audiobooks. Audible is the best app for that, hands down.
Kindle App [22] - I also like to read on my iPhone 6 if my iPad isnât handy. The Kindle application for iPhone 6 is a fantastic way to read whether youâre in a plane, train or sitting on the couch. A solid alternative to iBooks.
Netflix [23] - If Iâm not using the Amazon Instant Video app, Iâm watching cartoons and shows on Netflix. The app has improved over the years and is a necessary app for Netflix users, especially iPhone 6 users. The big screen makes movie watching feel far more natural.
Xbox Smart Glass [24] - If you own an Xbox 360 or an Xbox One, do yourself a favor and get Smart Glass. It allows you to control your Xbox with your iPhone 6. Itâs a fantastic app and one that I use on a daily basis when playing games with friends and family.
Top Shopping Apps for iPhone 6
Amazon [25] - I do most of my shopping on Amazon. With Amazon Prime, itâs hard not to. Amazon has continually tweaked its app for the iPhone and thanks to those improvements, Iâm on it almost every single day. This app is crucial for heavy Amazon users. It helps that the app now offers a Touch ID tie in as well.
eBay [26] - Sometimes, if I have a hard time finding something, Iâll take a look on eBay. In the past, Iâve ordered things like posters and obscure basketball jerseys. The app allows me to easily check on my bids and on the auctions for things Iâm selling. Iâm not a heavy eBay user but I still highly recommend having it because you never know what you might find on there.
FedEx [27] - I get a lot of packages. The FedEx application allows me to easily keep tabs on important packages. Those of you that get tons of packages would be wise to get the FedEx app on your iPhone 6 ASAP.
UPS [28] - Same deal here. The UPS app allows me to quickly and efficiently track my packages. FedEx and UPS are my standard carriers though I often encounter OnTrac and USPS as well. Itâs worth a download, especially as we head into the holidays.
PayPal [29] - A lot of people use Venmo, I still use PayPal to easy send off money for goods or to friends. If you use PayPal, getting the PayPal app on your iPhone 6 is a no-brainer.
Best Weather Apps for iPhone 6
Dark Sky [30] â" Dark Sky is essential if you live in an area where weather is a problem. The app is able to scarily predict things like when itâs going to rain and for how long. It also offers basic needs like temp and wind. One of my favorite iPhone 6 apps and one that Iâve carried over with me from the iPhone 5.
The Weather Channel [31] - Dark Sky costs money. If you want a solid free weather application, The Weather Channel will suit all of your needs. Itâs free, but itâs also one of the best iPhone 6 apps on the App Store.
Top iPhone 6 Apps for Travel
Google Maps [32] - Apple Maps is getting better but I still rely on Google Maps to get me around. It offers accurate traffic results and provides solid navigation. Itâs one of the best iPhone 6 apps available. Youâd be wise to get it if you drive a car, take public transportation or simply enjoy getting out for a nice walk.
Sigalert [33] â"Â Those that want more information about traffic will want to take a look a Sigalert. It offers detailed traffic reports, offers traffic cameras, and allows you to personalize your route. Itâs real time, perfect for those that commute. Get it on your iPhone 6.
Waze [34] - Waze is also essential to commuters and those that are going on road trips. Waze pulls in information from other drivers on the road and offers you a glimpse at potential roadblocks ahead. Iâve use it to navigate the LA freeways and itâs saved me time, and money, getting from point a to point b. An essential iPhone 6 application.
Uber [35] - Another one of my most used iPhone 6 apps. Uber, for those unfamiliar, is a service that makes it easy to get a car when you need it. No exchange of cash is required, itâs all done through the app, and you can rate drivers on their performance. Uber continues to improve its service and application and itâs become one of my favorite iPhone 6 applications.
GasBuddy [36] - GasBuddy came recommended to me and itâs an application thatâs quickly found a home on my iPhone 6. The app will tell you nearby gas stations but it will also show you their prices. This is absolutely huge if youâre going on a road trip with friends or family members and youâre trying to stay budget conscious.
iPhone 6 Photography Apps
Afterlight [37] - Afterlight is an extremely cheap application that allows you to add effects to photos after you take them. There are a mind-boggling amount of options at your disposal so that you can get the right look for your photos. Itâs easy to use but difficult to master. One of the best iPhone 6 apps out and essential to those that love photography.
VSCOcam [38] â"Â If youâre not into spending money and want a free publishing platform to boot, check out VSCOcam. It provides tons of editing tools and an easy way to organize your content. A solid alternative for iPhone 6 users.
Touch Retouch [39] - A remarkably simple application that lets you retouch older photos. Another alternative to these two other iPhone 6 photography apps and one that is worth checking out if you find yourself taking tons of photos with that improved iPhone 6 camera.
Camera+ [40] - I also occasionally use Camera+. Itâs another powerful editing tool and it allows you to easily edit photos taken on your iPhone 6. Some of you might prefer it over Afterlight.
Sports Apps for iPhone 6
NFL Sunday Ticket [41] - If you have DIRECTV and subscribe to NFL Sunday Ticket, this app is a must. It provides scores, updates, and highlights and it allows you to follow the games right from your iPhone 6. Most of the terrible reviews are from people who feel screwed over by NFL Sunday Ticket subscriptions and donât pertain to the app itself. Itâs worth a download.
MLBAtBat [42] - Do you watch a lot of baseball? Get MLBatBat. My favorite app for tracking games, stats, players, teams and more. Baseball season is always just a few short months away.
StubHub [43] - I go to a lot of sporting events. I also go to a lot of concerts. So, I am always on StubHub checking for tickets. Much easier and much safer than Craigslist. Iâve yet to have a bad experience buying, or selling, tickets from my iPhone 6 on StubHub.
Useful iPhone 6 Apps
Simple Tip [44] - Iâm not amazing at math. I also tend to eat out a lot with groups of people. Tipping can be a pain so I often turn to Simple Tip. The app is free and it provides an easy way to ensure that youâre not over or under tipping at lunch or dinner.
Bar Link [45] - Bar Link is an insanely useful application that essentially allows you to takeover a compatible jukebox. Make an account, load up credits and youâll be able to request music at your local pub right from your phone. A life saver if you have it on your iPhone 6.
Open Table [46] - Sometimes I like to make dinner reservations. It doesnât happen often but when I do decide to go out, I use OpenTable. Quick, efficient and it has never let me down on date night.
Hotel Tonight [47] - Hotel Tonight offers same day hotel deals. It has been a lifesaver for me in the past when Iâve needed a great hotel on the cheap. The only downside is that itâs accessible in certain regions of the country. The developer also recently baked in Apple Pay support. This is a solid application for the hurried traveler.
Kayak [48] - Kayak is a great travel aggregation tool. It helps you find the cheapest car rentals and hotels across a number of different sites. A crucial iPhone 6 app for those that travel.
Yelp [49] - I still use Yelp to make sure that a place isnât a dump. Anything below three and a half stars and my eyebrows start to raise. This is a must have application for those that eat out. And yes, it ties into OpenTable.
Slack [50] â"Â I used to use Convo. Now I use Slack to communicate with my co-workers. Slack is a fantastic communication tool that allows iPhone 6 users to easily share content with friends and fellow employees. It also helps that it comes with a solid Mac application.
Asana [51] - I use Asana, a powerful project management tool, for work. It allows me to prioritize projects and monitor our writers. While itâs a great tool for editors, itâs also going to be useful for those of you that juggle tons of projects and donât use an internal program to track them. The app, like Slack, is beautiful on the iPhone 6.
Grubhub [52] â" GrubHub allows you to easily order delivery or takeout from your favorite local restaurants. I use this application a ton. Itâs quick, affordable and efficient.
Music Apps for iPhone 6
Bandsintown [53] - I love going to live music and this application allows me to easily track my favorite artists on my iPhone 6. I live in Los Angeles and there are tons of artists playing at tons of different venues on any given day. Bandsintown helps me eliminate the noise and focus on the shows that I want to attend. Iâm also able to get a jump on popular tickets. Thatâs huge.
SoundCloud [54] - SoundCloud is fantastic for those that want to listen to music thatâs not found on mainstream music services. DJs will post live sets and artists will occasionally post new songs early. There are tons and tons of remixes on here as well. The new look to the app isnât my favorite but I didnât abandon the service on my iPhone 6.
Spotify [55] - I use Spotify more than any other iPhone 6 app. I use it in the car, I use it at home, I use it to play music thru my Bluetooth speaker when Iâm in the shower. It features a massive library of music and even allows you to download and save songs provided you have a premium account. Canât say enough about this app. Get it now.
Pandora [56] - Sometimes you want to mix it up. Spotify Radio is still not that good so when I want things to get a bit random, I use Pandora. Pandoraâs radio is intelligent and it often plays fantastic stuff that Iâve never heard. A must for iPhone 6 users.
Soundhound/Shazam - Both of these music discovery apps are great. I donât use them all that often because I donât listen to the radio but on the rare occasion I donât know a song, Iâll whip them out. Theyâre not good for remixes but excellent otherwise.
Top iPhone 6 Games
Domino! Free - Some people love cards, I love dominoes. Domino! Free is the best domino application that Iâve found and it allows you to play against friends and the CPU. Perfect for late nights in bed when you canât fall asleep.
Two Dots â"Â A simple yet challenging game that youâre going to have a hard time putting down. Download it at your own risk.
Monument Valley - If you want something more than puzzle games, Monument Valley is the ticket. This is a wonderfully crafted game thatâs worth every penny. Great puzzles and gorgeous graphics make for a game that youâll never forget. It looks stunning on the iPhone 6.
Tiny Wings â" Tiny Wings is one of my favorite iPhone 6 apps and one of the best iPhone games period. Tons of fun to be had here and itâs helped pass the time on many flights.
Plants vs. Zombies - The original. Great story mode, addicting gameplay, fantastic graphics. It doesnât get much better than this.
Threes - Threes is another game that youâre not going to be able to put down. One of my favorites on iOS and on the iPhone 6.
