According to reports, Apple has already seeded iOS 7.1.2 build to carriers , who had until yesterday to sign off on the update.
So it seems highly likely that Apple will release iOS 7.1.2 to the public next week.
Details of the update are still vague, but it will most likely include fix for the email attachment bug , fix for a bug in downloading emails. It is also likely to include a fix for the lock screen security flaw we reported earlier in the month.
It remains to be seen if Apple will patch the exploit used by the Pangu jailbreak . But since the build was seeded to carriers last week, before the Pangu jailbreak was released , there is a high chance that iOS 7.1.2 wonât kill the jailbreak. You however cannot rule out Apple patching the exploit in the public release to stay ahead of the cat and mouse game with jailbreakers.
If youâre on iOS 7.0.6 or lower, and were holding off upgrading to iOS 7.1 or iOS 7.1.2 because of the lack of a jailbreak, then it would be prudent to update your device to iOS 7.1.1 , and jailbreak it using Pangu over the weekend to play it safe. iOS 7.1 and iOS 7.1.1 donât any major changes and improvements ( iOS 7.1 change log , iOS 7.1.1 change log ), but iOS 7.1.1 is a lot more stable, and you donât want to lose the opportunity to upgrade.
Mac users will still have wait for the Pangu team to release a Mac version of the Pangu jailbreak. Pangu team have said that theyâre working on Mac, possibly Linux and English versions of the Pangu jailbreak , and hope to release them soon.
