Apple introduced interesting buy back schemes last year to propel the sale of both, the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c. This move brought down the price of the iPhone a few notches and allowed the customers to also get a decent value for smartphones that they no more really used. It was widely acknowledged that it was this move that was largely responsible for an all time high in terms of volumes sold of iPhones in India.
In 2014, the story seems to continue. Apple made the low cost variant of the iPhone 5c with 8 GB storage space last month for a cut price of Rs 37,500. It also bundled in the official Apple cover which costs about Rs 2,500 for free in an attempt to generate sales volume for iPhone 5c. However, given that most of the Online portals already have the iPhone 5c for as low as Rs 34,000, Apple has decided to bring in an exchange scheme under which you can give away your old smartphone that is in a working condition and take home the iPhone 5c for Rs 29,500.
While the deal definitely seems sweet at the price point given that the iPhone 5c is just about an year old, if you like to download loads of apps or media, this may not be the best way forward. Given the lack of any expansion with an iPhone and the fact that the deal is not omnipresent, you might want to think twice before getting a phone that basically just does not have enough storage. However, if you are in the market for an iPhone and are just going to use it with some basic apps and more as a device to communicate, the deal definitely is a sweet one and makes loads of sense. In the Apple store we spoke to here in Mumbai about the deal, you will have to place an order and wait for a couple of days to get the 8 GB iPhones. However, we were assured by the dealer that you can pick the phone in any color you wish.
