Late November 2103: Red Bull Music Academy releases in the U.S. the book For the Record: Conversations with People Who Have Shaped the Way We Listen to Music , for which I wrote an essay about Raster-Noton label's Carsten Nicolai and Olaf Bender.
January 13 - 26, 2014: I have a work (in the form of a list of recommended sound-in-art work) as part of an exhibit at the Gallery of Light in Dubai (>disquiet.com, ductac.org [1] ).
January 29, 2014: First day of the 15-week course I teach on the role of sound in the media landscape at the Academy of Art in San Francisco ( disquiet.com ).
February 13, 2014: The release date for my book on Aphex Twin's landmark 1994 album, Selected Ambient Works Vol. II , published as part of the 33 1/3 [2] series, an imprint of Bloomsbury [3] . It can be purchased at amazon.com [4] , among other places.
February 19, 2014: I'll be giving a talk in the San Francisco Bay Area. Details TK.
March 20, 2014: I'll be doing a reading from my new 33 1/3 book on Aphex Twin's Selected Ambient Works Volume II at 7pm at the bookstore City Lights in San Francisco. Several musicians will be joining me (citylights.com [5] , disquiet.com ).
April 22, 2014. Today is Earth Day, and I'll be giving a talk in the San Francisco Bay Area. Details TK.
May 14, 2014: Final day of the 15-week course I teach on the role of sound in the media landscape at the Academy of Art in San Francisco ( disquiet.com ).
New: There are now three Disquiet-collated âcarouselsâ on SoundCloud streaming sets of ambient, beat-based, and âotherâ tracks: disquiet.com . Think of them as fluid, iterative podcasts. I've set up similar stations at Rdio, one ambient [6] , the other beats [7] .
Ongoing: The Disquiet Junto series of weekly communal music projects explore constraints as a springboard for creativity and productivity. There is a new project each Thursday afternoon (California time), and it is due the following Monday at 11:59pm: soundcloud.com .
Down the Pike: Concerts in the Disquiet Junto series are in various stages of planning for London, England; Portland, Oregon; and elsewhere.
