London history: Past and present juxtaposed with new iPhone app StreetMuseum | Science & Tech | News

These incredible images, produced by an amazing new iPhone app, are part of a series launched by the Museuem of London.

The new Streetmusuem app lets you walk with Londoners of the 18th and 19th century and show the user exactly just how much Britain's capital has changed over the years.

One image shows London's Oxford Street around the turn of the 20thcentury against the bustling tourists of today.

A photograph of Brick Lane in Spitalfields in the 1950s against that of today.

One of the most astounding images is that of Covent Garden station where the image juxtapositions commuters of today with busy Londoners of the 1950s.

One lovely image shows children looking out from Tower Bridge out to the Thames across the ages.

The Streetmusuem app allows users to select the destination from a London map and an historical image is imposed on top.

The app recognises locations if you are on the move.
