It must be very exciting new for Apple fans. Free iPhone apps for today includes Shazam iPhone app that automatically listens for music, TV updates.
The Shazam iPhone app has launched a new update for the Apple smartphone users that lets the app tap music and TV shows from the background even when the app is not turned on.
Previously users had to turn on the app to tap music playing in the vicinity. But now users will not miss anything being played in the background sine the app automatically taps and keeps tagging audio from the background. The new update names the app Auto Shazam.
CEO Rich Riley explained the feature, âOur goal is for people to have an âalways onâ experience that enables them to incorporate Shazam into their everyday lives, Shazaming the media around them to get more information or special offers on the things that interest them.â
The auto feature comes turned off by default, but can be turned on by users by switching a toggle after the update has been installed. As soon as the app finds an audio or show, it tags the thing and sends users a notification about the audio name.
Shazam chief product officer Daniel Danker said, âShazam is already known as fast and easy, but we want to become effortless. The only thing easier than pressing a button is not having to press one at all.â
Auto Shazam has already been there for iPad users but it is the first time that the app has been updated to be used on smartphone including all of its new features. The app turns itself off by default if the user does not interact with it for two hours. This conserves the iPhoneâs battery. This feature is recommended for use in bars and while watching TV where continuous music plays in the background.
Shahzam also takes care to inform users that it does not invade the privacy of any in the vicinity of the users. It is because shazam never records audio, it just creates digital fingerprints that are sent back to Shazamâs servers and matched with fingerprints that are stored there. These fingerprints cannot be converted back to audio. This also unsures very little data used by the user. Shazam informs that it uses less data than the size of an average email when matching a digital fingerprint.
