If you have some iPad and iPhone apps on your Christmas list, or want to give an app as a gift, the next few days will give you a chance to pick up some popular ones at discounts of up to 60 percent. Several developers joined together to offer iPad and iPhone app deals for the holidays through the App Santa program, GottaBeMobile [1]  reports. Savvy consumers will need to act fast, as these deals are set to expire at the close of 2013.Â
Productivity and Work-Related Apps Lead the Pack
Most of the 15 participating apps are work-themed. Some of the most popular include Twitter client Tweetbot 3, which is on sale at $1.99 from $4.99, and was called âundeniably the most powerful Twitter client for iPhoneâ by The Verge [2] . Also available is scanning app Scanner Pro, which has been discounted to $2.99 from $6.99, and note-taking software Vesper, marked down from $4.99 to $2.99.Â
In addition to the productivity-promoting apps, there is one game available from App Santa: SketchParty TV. This Pictionary-style drawing game resembles former App Store darling Draw Something, but is able to utilize a connected Apple TV to display what the user is drawing so opponents in your living room can take part in the fun. SketchParty TV is being sold at $2.99, discounted from $4.99.
More App Deals on the Horizon
Though iPad and iPhone app deals have been showing up intermittently throughout the holiday season, you can expect more app deals to arrive in the weeks to come. Apple is offering a â12 Days of Christmas Appâ that offers one free gift a day for 12 days starting December 26. Other companies will likely get on the app deals bandwagon in the days after Christmas, as they have in years past, hoping to attract downloads from those lucky consumers who scored an iPad or iPhone under the Christmas tree this year.
Keep your eye on the App Store in the coming weeks if you are trying to score a deal, as most apps go on sale with no advance notice. If you need help keeping track of all of these deals, Lifehacker recommends setting up app deal notifications using the IFTTT [3] app. In addition, you can monitor Twitter for the latest deals by searching for hashtags like #appdeals or #freeappoftheweek.Â
Do you plan to check out any of these iPad and iPhone app deals over the holidays?
