It's Black Friday in the US, and that means every retailer under the sun is looking to sell things on the cheap to boost sales. The mobile application ecosystem is no exception, either. There are a ton of sales going on, but not all of them are necessarily worth your time and money. Let's go over the best app and game deals you need to grab before they go away.
For the iOS users out there, there are a few worthwhile free games you should not hesitate to pick up. The action title Infinity Blade [1] is free (usually $5.99). It might be a little old, but it still looks stellar. Ubisoft's physics puzzler Babel Rising 3D [2] is also free, down from $2.99. The casual online memory challenge Circle [3] is usually $4.99, but today it's free too. Â
If you don't mind spending a few bucks, there's a lot more out there. XCOM: Enemy Unknown [4] is only $9.99 today. That might sound like a lot, but it's usually $19.99 in the App Store. The fabulous adventure/puzzle game Limbo [5] is on sale, down from $4.99 to just $0.99. Then you can get your tower defense fix with Kingdom Rush Frontiers [6] for only $0.99 (usually $2.99). The racing game Riptide GP2 [7] is also just $0.99 right now, which is a nice drop from the regular price of $2.99. For iPad users only, the RPG Shadowrun Returns [8] is down from $9.99 to $6.99 today.
On the more serious side, the US version of Navigon Navigator [9] is $24.99 in the App Store, down from $49.99. 1Password [10] has also dropped to $9.99 from the base price of $17.99. If you fancy using your iDevice to control your computer, Actions [11] is only $0.99 (usually $3.99).
For Android folks, developers can't make apps free, then return them to paid status. Therefore, you're going to have to spend a little to enjoy the Black Friday deals. Still, there's some good stuff. If you want a great game, take a look at Incredipede [12] , which is a unique physics puzzler. It's just $0.99, down from $3.99. The point-and-click adventure Yesterday [13] is also on sale for $0.99 (usually $5.99). The atmospheric first-person adventure-puzzler (think Myst) Kairo [14] is only $0.99 as well, down from $4.99. Just like on iOS, Riptide GP2 [15] is on sale for $0.99 (usually $2.99). Another crossover from iOS, Shadowrun Returns [16] is on sale for $6.99, but it only works on tablets.
Android apps to check out today include DosBox Turbo [17] , which is a DOS emulator for phones and tablets. It's only $1.19, down from $3.49. A license for the popular podcast app BeyondPod [18] is usually $6.99, but today it's only $2.99. If you need something a little more business-oriented, OfficeSuite Pro 7 [19] is on sale for $4.99, but it's down from $14.99. You can't argue with $10 off. Lastly, if you're rocking a Galaxy S4 or HTC One, check out the Smart IR Remote [20] app. It utilizeds the IR blaster built into these phones, and it's on sale for $4.99 from $6.99.
Well, all those sales should keep you busy through the weekend. Make sure to save some money for Cyber Monday, though.
