Not a lot of people may know this, or indeed if they do and havenât told you, then they are keeping to themselves one of the best kept secrets to do with Apple apps â" you can get many of them for free.
Thatâs right, an app that costs pounds could emerge for free or at a massive 90 per cent off for a day or two, but youâve got to know when and where.
Every day there are loads of apps that go for free or get drastically reduced in Appleâs App Store. App developers will often test new price points for a few days or even make their app free in a bid to get people using their app and then get them interested in other paid apps.
But keeping up to date with whatâs free or whatâs gone cheap can be tricky to monitor by yourself unless you happen to have a keen interest of logging in and checking everything yourself.
Using AppShopper has opened my eyes to trying out lots of great apps.
Or, you could just use a really helpful site that does all of this for you and provides a very easy directory to discover what is free and what has been reduced.
AppShopper is constantly updated with all the best deals around. Itâs a great way to find things you wouldnât normally try out but if itâs free or very cheap you can see what itâs like.
Among recent highlights over the past year, The Amazing Spiderman went from £4.99 to an amazing 69p, games maker EA has made many of its apps free for limited time periods, â80s retro hero Sonic became a 69p deal in Sonic Dash and the full version of Hotel Tycoon went from a few quid to nothing. Thereâs plenty of great apps out there worth hunting down and trying out.
One of the best deals I got was the Animoog synthesiser for iPad that allows you to be an â80s-style retro electromeister. Itâs a full blown synth that even if it was reduced to £4.99 would be a bargain, but to be offered at 69p when it went for nearly £30 previously has to be one of the best app deals ever.
Using AppShopper has opened my eyes to trying out lots of great apps for myself as well as other family members. Itâs a great resource to one of the best secrets out there in Apple app land.
