Crittercism, a San Francisco-based company that helps mobile app developers track their performance, reports that apps are crashing twice the rate on the iPhone 5s, as on either the iPhone 5c or iPhone 5.
The bug tracking company reports that apps crash about two percent on the iPhone 5s, as compared to just one percent on the iPhone 5c and iPhone 5.
One of the main reasons for the higher percentage of crashes is probably due to iPhone 5sâ new 64-bit A7 chip . While developers got a chance to test their apps for compatibility issues on iPhone 5 running iOS 7 since the beta was released at the WWDC 2013 in June, they got a chance to test their apps on iPhone 5s only after it was launched late last month.
It is also important to point out that since iPhone 5s is currently available only in 10 countries, quite a few developers wonât be able to test their apps on the new hardware until the second wave of rollout in more than 50 countries towards the end of the month.
âAnytime there is new hardware or software release, we see issues,â Crittercism CEO Andrew Levy said in an interview. âInevitably, over time, those issues get resolved.â
Levy felt that Apple has still done a pretty good job making the major transition to 64-bit processors, and seamlessly from an end user point of view.
This comes hot on the heels of news that iPhone 5s users are facing Blue Screen of Death reboots on their new device.
Apple has released two software updates ( iOS 7.0.1 and iOS 7.0.2 ) for iPhone 5s. It is also expected to release iOS 7.0.3 soon to fix other bugs that have been reported such as the annoying iMessage bug and issue with content filtering .
