Strava Run updates to use the M7 motion coprocessor in the iPhone 5s

Exercise apps are set to go to a new level with Apple's new M7 motion coprocessor in the iPhone 5s , and Strava Run is one of the first out of the gate to do so. The latest update to the app brings not only a swish looking new iOS 7 design, but also support for the M7 that promises better accuracy and better battery consumption on your runs:

  • Auto-pause: Get better accuracy in your pace and feedback. Your run will now automatically be paused when you stop moving.
  • Run longer: Reduced battery consumption means you can spend more time on the roads and trails.

Run tracking apps rely heavily on the GPS module in the phone, but by employing the M7 in the iPhone 5s, apps like Strava can now distinguish the type of motion currently taking place as well as just where you are and how fast you're moving. And because the M7 helps reduce the load on the A7 chip which powers the phone, battery life should be greatly improved.

I'm not a runner, so I'm not the sort of person to be putting this to the test. If you're a Strava user though, drop us a line in the comments if you've already taken the latest update out with you. Are you seeing any improvements?
