Take one beloved Disney franchise, add some multiplayer shooting, and watch as it turns into a fairly unsurprising Capture the Flag type game.
Disney isnât particularly well known for its third person shooters, but surprisingly thatâs precisely what DuckTales: Scroogeâs Loot is. Loosely using the DuckTales license, itâs not the most gripping of titles but at least it offers something a little different from the normal flurry of freemium titles.
Essentially, itâs a Capture The Flag type game. Two teams of four compete against each other in order to collect gold from a central point before delivering it to their respective teamâs vehicle. Each of the four maps is quite small so itâs a concept thatâs broken down in a matter of a few minutes. Sometimes itâs quite fun, other times it can be a little dull. This is mostly because the maps are designed in a way that means itâs relatively easy to outrun or simply dodge the opposition. A plethora of launchpads make it especially easy to leap from one side of a map to the other without much trouble. Thereâs also the issue that while DuckTales: Scroogeâs Loot is primarily a shooter, those weapons donât carry much of a punch, even despite the generous auto aim.
There is, at least, a fair amount of structure to the gameplay both in terms of the single player and multiplayer varieties. This is in part thanks to the missions available, giving players extra coins as well as a focus to work towards. Such coins can be used to customize oneâs character too, as well as buy new weaponry and power-ups. Itâs a similar path but a reasonably effective one, although yet again it really doesnât use the DuckTales license very well. This is a game that could involve any characters and still remain the same.
Fortunately, particularly after the troubles of Whereâs My Water? 2 , DuckTales: Scroogeâs Loot requires little need to spend real money to progress so thereâs that in its favor. It does still have an energy system, but itâs not as harsh as Disneyâs earlier title.
However, itâs just all a tad shallow and ultimately quite forgettable. This is a multiplayer shooter that weâve all seen elsewhere, but with a few DuckTales skins placed on it to make it seem shinier. Itâll pass the time for a little while, but donât expect to be playing it for weeks to come.
