Jon Hamm and Daniel Radcliffe compete on iPhone app

Winnipeg Free Press - ONLINE EDITION

Jon Hamm and Daniel Radcliffe keep in touch via iPhone app 'Words With Friends'.

The 'Man Men' actor has admitted he plays against the 'Harry Potter' star on the word-building game - which is similar to Scrabble - as a way of staying close after they appeared in TV mini-series 'A Young Doctor's Notebook'.

He told E! News: "We do. We were playing 'Words With Friends' together for a while.

"Because that's basically the 21st century way of staying in touch."

Jon explained he is fan of the "talented" 24-year-old, describing him as "wildly intelligent and super funny".

He added: "I'm a fan of his. He's a lovely guy. He's wildly intelligent and super funny and super talented.

"I like to have people in my life who are all three of these things."

It was recently revealed Jon was going to have throat surgery to remove a single polyp - a growth of abnormal tissue - after his representative confirmed he was going under the knife.

He was overheard discussing the procedure - which his rep said is routine - with his on-screen ex-wife January Jones at an Emmy Awards after party last week.
