How the *bleep* do I use YouTube Live for my business?

I had a videographer in my house for five days, so I’ve recently had an education in all things video: in trends and in what’s popular. When it comes down to what’s shockingly effective for business, there’s just one thing: live video.

A year ago, hosting live video events would set you back thousands per month, so most of us weren’t going to hop on that bandwagon.  But YouTube now offers the free YouTube LIVE [1] option to any channel with over 100 subscribers. You can also grab a free Livestream account [2] , download the iPhone app, and hold an event anywhere you’ve got wifi or cell reception.  We entrepreneurs now have exactly ZERO excuses for not holding live events on a regular basis.

There’s just one problem. WTF DO I HAVE A LIVE EVENT ABOUT!?!?

If you’re anything like me, your live event holding excuses bucket is as empty as yesterday’s pizza box. Let’s fill it up and get you holding LIVE events for your business.

Host a party.

Parties just aren’t the same when they’re recorded, so a live party is the perfect place to use off your YouTube-iness.

Real life examples: 3-day clean eating challenge kickoff, ______ class opening cocktail hour, fashion show, virtual product party (get your Tupperware/31/Stella & Dot on!).

Hold product demonstrations â€" show people how to use what you make.

You’re used to using your product, but others are intimidated by what you think is simple â€" guaranteed. Walk people through an installation, a download, a set-up, or a simple routine for incorporating your product into daily life. Be sure to include live links to the product you’re showing off, too.

Real life examples: show peeps how to install art on the walls, style an outfit with your jewelry, use your app to make life better.

Feature DIY tips for what you do professionally (highlight the hard parts as well as the “You can do it, too!” cheeriness).

There’s a way to make what you do professionally happen at home â€" because people still take photos, do their make-up, practice yoga, design their homes, and use their apps when you’re not around.

Real life examples: 10 tips for giving the best foot massage on the planet with a live model or two, simple Photoshop fixes for your worst photo nightmares, 5 poses for looking skinnier in photos.

Create a short class with Q&A session afterward.

Invite your peeps to a 15-minute lecture or demonstration, then open up the floor for questions. It’s a short and sweet 30-minute event!

Real life examples: Better photos with your iPhone, 30-second make-up tricks that make you look less tired, photo organization that doesn’t make you want to pull your hair out.

Take us behind the scenes.

Take us behind the scenes of your business, and we’re enchanted. Show us processes: design, creation, packaging, shipping, selling, servicing (heh), tweaking, twerking…whatever.

Real life examples: A Day in the Life, 3 hours in the __________ offices, the design process of your latest product from start to finish.

Bonus! Show off success stories.

Feature customers’ success stories, triumphs, and wins as an add-on to ANY event. People trust the not-business-owner to sell them stuff, so let your customers take the stage for a few minutes!

If you want to see live events from Brand Camp, you’re gonna have to subscribe to my YouTube channel [3] . (Literally. I can’t hold live events without those 100+ subscribers.)
